People who do have them will want to know year and model of Montana to understand layout, doing yourself or having done, etc. I looked at them and decided they were too small for me. Non-vented combo unit is way too slow at drying. Too many things not able to fit into them.

We have had a Splendide vented combo since we bought the Monte in 2007 and it has worked fine. Loads are fairly small, but DW just puts in a load, sets it to wash AND dry, we go off and do whatever we want, and come back later to a clean, dry load of laundry. Repeat if necessary. She does towels and washcloths and king size sheets with no problem, not at the same time. But we are some timers, not full timers.
I would not get a non vented model.
I believe the newer models (labeled XC) have a slightly large capacity than ours.

Vented Spledide Combo for us. It's done us well for 6 years of full timing.

After watching a neighbor with a vented combo my wife said the load is too small and she can have a weeks wash done in the time it takes 1 small load. So she preferred the laundry at the CG instead of putting one in the Cougar. When we bought the Montana it had to be capable of a separate washer and dryer.

A thought from someone who doesn't have a washer/dryer in the rig...I think the cost is too much. It would take about 250 loads of wash and about 250 loads of dry to pay for an RV washer/dryer. That is almost almost 2 1/2 years of 2 loads a week at a Laundromat. Then there is the added weight and loss of storage space. I can see the convenience of not having to sit around a campground laundry room for a couple of hours, but I would rather save that investment, weight and storage. If we were full timers, then maybe I would consider it.

We never even considered the costs vs payback. It was all about convenience. Since the combo will wash AND dry, we never sit around waiting for it to finish. Just go about our daily activities. And we often stay at state and COE parks that don't have laundries, and the nearest laundromat may be miles away in some town somewhere.
We are not full timers.

The convenience to us is priceless. We have the vented model.

Different RVing styles and perspectives. What works for some may not meet the needs of others. What is nice about this forum is all the experience available and opinions voiced for those asking questions to get all the pros and cons and to make better informed decisions.
All hail the MOC.

We have had both - the Splendide combo in the Monte and now separate W/D. While the combi unit was good in a pinch, we found using a laundromat to be much more efficient. It just took way too long for one load of laundry. With our current washer and dryer, we use them just as we did in the s&b house and rarely use a laundromat.

We chose an apartment size stackable Whirlpool W/D. The dryer is vented of course. Much faster than the combo's. Dry one load while washing the next. We'll do a load every night while we watch TV and stay ahead of the job. Never have to plan to do laundry or take time out to run anywhere for laundry. Cost is the same as a combo.
