Airbags or timberin

I finally measured my rear wheel wells from the ground when loaded with my 1790RD and without. 2 1/2 inch difference. It is enough to aim my headlights up when driving at night. While I don't like to drive at night, it does happen. I am considering getting airbags or timberin(sp). What say you?

I like the flexibility of the air bags. I do agree, that something is required. As much as we'd like to think our TVs can handle anything, headlight aim will be impacted by towing trailers.

I believe the air bags are more expensive but not having bought Timbrens I wouldn't know. I do think I paid too much, but I went to a specialty shop for the work and that can drive up the price here in Califormia.

Whatever I spent, over the past 10 years, it's been worth every overpriced penny.

We went with airbags and have been happy campers since.

Although more expensive I went with airbags. I use my truck for daily driving. I run 10 pounds empty and 40 pounds with trailer. I like being able to adjust the ride when not towing.

I also went with Timbren's. The nice thing about them is, no air lines or pump, and when unloaded, the truck rides like they are not there, about an inch of gap between the Timbren and the stop.

I have had both. Do yourself a favor and do it right the first time. Get the AIR BAGS with on-board air. I have had Firestone and Air Lift bags and prefer the Air Lift by far. The on-board air is also Air Lift brand and automatically keeps the required 5 psi minimum air all the time unless I want it higher.

I went with Air Bags. Love them and wouldn't be without them now...kind of like going from a SRW to a DRW, just a much better ride.

We run air bags, on board compressor with gauges installed in the center console. Makes a huge difference. Ride is better and we just deflate to 5-10 psi when unhitched.

We have used both and they both do the job having said that we now have air bags and prefer them.

For me it's now one or the other its control or no control. I had air bags on my F250 and will be putting them on my F350.

I have air bags and a Viair 10007 system on my truck. I went with air bags because of being able to adjust them, then went with onboard air so I could adjust them going down the road when conditions of the road changes. I won't tow heavy without bags again.

Personally installed airbags on my last truck (2006 F250). Loved them. Plan on doing airbags on my new truck (2016 F350). Just curious, what are Timbrens ? Never heard of them.

http://timbren.com/ Depending on the vehicle, they either replace the stock bump stops or are an add-on.

Went to Timbren website and found p/n for my application. Also watched some videos. It would appear that there is still rear sag (albeit not as much) and front rise. I didn't see any demonstration showing very close to stock ride height. I know airbags can do that.
Opinions from folks with Timbrens please.
Thanks in advance.

I installed mine with one inch gap timbren to axle. That is about how much squat I get. Some install the timbren right on the axle but I hear it roughens the ride when hitting minor chuck holes. Call and talk to Timbren. Tell them what you are trying to accomplish and they will give you advice.

I have Timbrens on my 2016 GMC Sierra Denali. The dealer moved them from my 2011 Silverado at the time we purchased the new truck. If the Timbrens are matched for your vehicle they will not engage without a load, if the wrong ones you many be in for a bumpy ride when not towing. For me they are a no brainer. No compressor no gauges and no air bags to contend with. I watched when I load the truck and I have no significant raising of the front at all. My opinion and it works for me.
