Rear Reciever

In the process of trading for a 2015 3610RL. I really need a 2" receiver on the rear of the trailer strong enough to carry the generator, bicycles, or even tow a small fishing boat. I hear that if Lippert doesn't install the hitch that they will void the frame warranty. I see a lot of things being towed up and down the highway, in fact I had a good hitch on the trailer I just traded in. For the price of this new trailer god only knows I don't want to void the warranty. Really need some advice!!!!!! Thanks Frank Thanks for all the response... I have another Question??? Does anyone else have the Truck Trailer combination that I have??? 2013 F250 6.7 Diesel and a 2015 3610RL> My wife is all over my back to get a 1 ton truck, She thinks it is against the law for me to pull this trailer with a 3/4 ton....I admit we are proably at the max but feel we are OK...

This is not a new question, I have heard the same since we purchased our 2005 Montana. Some people don't care, some take warranty coverage seriously. This is a decision only you can make.

As far as the frame warranty goes... Other warranty items would probably fail before the frame. Like the fridge, A/C unit, roof, water heater or something like that. Saying that, if I did that, the frame would fall out from under the camper knowing my luck. Ours came with a 2" receiver hitch on the back...but we bought used, so no warranty there anyway. In the end, that's your call but I like to think the frames under these things are well built. Just don't overload it and I'd think you would be OK. This is just my humble opinion...
I've seen a carrier on the back that had wheels. One like that might provide some added support. Google probably knows the ones I'm talking about.

Do you have something in the storage bay in the front where the generator would be if you had ordered it with one?

I plan on putting a 2" receiver hitch on mine in the near future. I really wonder if it voids there warrantee to have one installed so long as you follow their guidelines. Obviously if they put one on they have to have some kind of a guideline AKA directions for the installation. Probably similar to truck manufactures saying you have to follow their guidelines to install hitches of all types. Now that I am curious I might have to make a call.

Just had an issue believed to be frame flex in the beginning. Keystone wanted to know what I used the hitch for (ours came with a "toy" one) and pictures of it. I do believe if I wanted a better hitch i'd let Lippert put it on. But that's just me.

At the Fall Rally last year I tried to get Lippert to put a 2" hitch on our rig. They told me they could not because our Monte is a 3582RL. Now I still don't understand why they could not put one on when others have had them put on their rigs. I'm going to check into it this Fall Rally and if they won't put one on, I know there is a hitch company right across the road from Tiara that will. We'll see what they say then!

Rondo, you can always go up to Mor/ryde, they fab what ever you want and I would trust them to not do anything stupid.

My Kansas made SOB with a Lippert frame came standard with a 2in.hitch on the back with a 300lb. weight limit and a 2500lb. tow limit per the trailer manufactuer. You might use this as a guide.

I had my 2" receiver installed by the dealer. No problems with it. I will be towing a small boat and an atv trailer.

Search this topic on forum. This horse has been rode hard, some have what you want without problems, some believe the frame bogeyman will get them. Been towing an ATV swivel wheel trailer from Florida to Colorado and back for three years without any problems. Dieselguy will chime in with his boat picture hopefully.

I bought my rv used. The previous owner installed a 2in rec hitch. It has 3 receivers, the 2" in the middle then one on each side. He use to tow an enclosed cargo trailer with his Harley and some other stuff inside with no problems. You can also install a cargo carry platform because of the 3 receivers. The only trouble I had was that the receiver gouge the asphalt when backing into my storage unit because they have such a high pitch in front of the door. I just had 2 Ultra-Fab 3" departure rollers welded to the bottom of the hitch. Now the receiver doesn't scrape anymore.

I plan on getting a gas golf cart to tow behind my camper. If I do I will be definitely be getting a single wheel swivel wheel trailer that can fold up.

I had a local shop, that only builds and installs hitches, build me a 2" receiver hitch. I have hauled a 6x10 trailer with a Polaris RZR to Colorado and a golf cart to Texas and nothing has broke.

I would not buy one of the "Universal" hitches with just a single cross bar. Mine has a "H" shape, with 2 cross pieces made out of 2" tube with a 36" piece for the receiver part.

Link to hitch pictures http://s143.photobucket.com/user/jlb...?sort=3&page=1

The shop across from Tiara will fab up what ever you want. I used a shop in Springfield, Mo.

My fresh water tank is in the rear. My hitch is bolted on with 8 1/2" grade 5 bolts.

If you need a hitch, just put it on.

You can see by my sig pic, what I pull with. Your wife, is RIGHT.

Our 2012 3150RL came with a 1 1/4" hitch. Anyone use a bike rack with that hitch without any modifications? Our rack is a KUAT Sherpa platform style 2 bike rack @29 lbs and our bikes are less than 30 lbs each.

I have the factory 1 1/4 hitch. I carried 2 bikes on a Thule carrier until I installed a rear view camera. After I watched the bikes bouncing with that hitch I will never try it again.

My dealer had a shop build one for my 2014 3582RL. It has a single bar and great for carrying bikes but that is it. I thought they would put on a 2 bar hitch . I wish I would have requested a heavier hitch.

Maybe Keystone is making the new frames stronger than the one on my 07 3400RL. Based on what I was told by the factory, I wouldn't put any kind of hitch on it.

I have a reservation at Lipperts for the day before the fall Rally. It is pretty expensive but don't want to take any chances after going overboard on this trailer. $367.50 for parts and $100.00 hour for labor.

If you or a buddy are handy with a welder ... make one. I used 3" square tube with 1/4" wall 4" angle for the side brackets. Bolted to the frame with six 1/2" bolts. It's towed my 2000# squirt boat for years. Receiver hitches are ok, but this solid setup takes the rattle out of the combination. This same hitch has been on my 2005 and 2011 Montanas as the frames are spaced the same. I had a similar, but a bit lighter hitch on my 2000. It didn't have the true I Beam frame the later models have. The reason Keystone doesn't endorse towing anything behind your fiver is there would always be that brainless someone that tried pulling a 34' Scarab with twin 502's.
