110 wiring on slides
Wiring in the center lamp on the wall between the couch and the table heated up while the light was off....has anyone else had this problem? And I turned all the curcuit breakers off except the main breaker and the bedroom lights did not go off, is there a seperate breaker for the bedroom?

Which lights in the bedroom? All but the over mirror lights are DC powered, not 120 V. If they have the small snap in bulbs they are 12V DC powered.

Thanks Bingo...got the lights in the bedroom figured out......now trying to figure out why the wiring in the one light in the slide got so hot and melted wires, crazy! Good thing we came home when we did.

I don't think I would even try to figure it out. I would rewire the fixture since it sounds likt the wire insulation failed initially and if it melted it is definitely unsafe. If you wanted to have an increased margin of safety, you can install the next heavier guage wire. Melted wires are not good, it usually means that the wire is not enough for the breaker, but this obviously would not be the case in the original design. Sounds like something got frayed or nicked. Again, I would replace the wiring run, without a doubt.

I would say the wire got hot because of a loose connection or wire nut.
Jim, NCFISCHER, should be able to shed some light and I believe there are a few other professional electricians that should be able to help.

Loose connections could very well be the cause. That would generate heat. Have you found the spot where the wire is heating up or damaged?
