Black spots on my roof

I have what looks like mold on the roof of my Montana. I had it cleaned but the cleaners said they could not get it off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Tuck

Jim- Have you parked near or under any evergreens( pines, cedars and the like)? It could be sap and it is a bear to get off! You might stop by a Dollar General and pick up some AWESOME! It's in the cleaner section. Carry a bottle with us all the time for tough jobs (mold, black streaks and more)! If it's mold or sap it should take it off. I'm sure there will be others that will come along and through their two cents in also but that is my two cents anyway.

Tuck, I recently spent half a day cleaning my roof. I used Dawn dish soap and supplemented with a 50% solution of Awesome and it looks pretty darned good, even if I do say so myself. Just be sure to rinse well and then wash the sides from any run-off. Welcome to "The Best Darned Forum on the WWW"!

It may not be mold but the normal wearing of the roof. Even though the roof is white, somehow the rubber ages itself in black!! A good scrubbing with dawn is how I remedied it, unlike others, I could not convice DW that it was really a woman's job and had to do the manual labor myself. (and to make it worse nobody on the forum suggested a brush on a stick until after I had completed the arduous task on my hands and knees).

No matter how hard you work, as the unit gets older, the roof material just doesn't stay white, not can you get it back to its original whiteness. I just don't worry much about it. I usually have the unit washed and hand-waxed once/year and have the roof washed also. When the unit was new, I was on the roof every three months trying to keep it clean. But now, oh well...

Hey Bingo, next time use a brush on a stick. LOL. Actually I used a soft bristle brush on a telescoping arm, the same brush I use to wash the rig, however, I still had to get on hands and knees with a stiffer brush on many places.

When my 2003 sat up for a few months, mildew spots covered the top. I used a number of different cleaners. I got it clean, but could never get rid of tiny mildew "freckles". Only spy satellites would notice.

Be sure to stay away from trees with acorns and pecans. Those things leave unremovable stains no matter how much you scrub. ARGH!

Thanks for the help. I guess I won't worry about to much at 350 pounds I thinking I will stay away from the edges and just live with the black spots. Happy travels.

I used a mixture of powered OXI-Clean and water. It cleaned my roof and awnings as well. Even the wife was impressed.
