hot water heater
3475rl montana. Have gas and electric water heater. Gas part keeps trying to light, sometimes comes on and burns for just a few minutes then goes out and will not come back one. Have blown the air tube as I call it out to make sure there are no cobwebs in it. Tried the reset buttons as well nothing seems to work. Any ideas.

Clean the ground wire/igniter, and check it's connections; the flame serves as a ground, telling the gas controls it's safe to continue to have gas come through the valve. With a poor connection on a ground, the gas valve closes.
Most of the time this is the culprit.
Good luck, keep us informed.

Can you describe what the ground/igniter wire is. Never had problem with hot water heater, so never needed the book. But need it now and have found we never received one with all the rest of the books. Our hot water heater use to work on gas and electric, but the gas won't come on now. We use it when we want quick recovery.

When the unit starts up, after a time delay, you will hear/see sparking from an insulated wire and probe, this is the igniter/ground.

Had the same problem last summer,it was the control valve gizmo. The ignitor was clicking away but the valve wouldn't open to allow the gas flow.

Hi,
Ours was doing the same thing. Had an RV tech. come out and replace the gas control valve. It was still under warranty, Suburban sent the part and paid for one hour labor. Working fine now.
Good luck
