Floor Bounce

We installed JT Stablizers prior to our winter trip and are still having a problem with floor bounce. Is this normal? We are on gravel with pier blocks under each jack and leveler, blocked tires best we could, but do not have chocklocks between the tires. When we talked to JTS, they said that you do not need the tire chock locks, but we are wondering if we should. Could our problem be from being on piers, or gravel. Anyone out there have any imput on this problem. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks Dave and Teresa

I am not recommending putting your rig up on blocks, but that is the only thing I know that will further stabilize your rig. Even though you have done a lot of good things you are still sitting on rubber and springs. Nothing will remove all the movement under those conditions.

We, too, have the JT Stabilizers. Have had them since early last year. We, too, have floor bounce - bouncing that results from the springs over the axels. You could put a scissor jack in front of the forward axel, on the frame and *just* snug it up. I am told that this works; we choose to ignore the floor bounce as this is not a stick house on a foundation and never will be.

We stayed inside the Mor-ryde shop with wheels and axles off. Nothing but a big jackstand at the corners and we still had the bounce. Live with it.

I agree with what everyone else said. I would try what snfexpress said if it is a problem for you.

Here is what I use. On set behind the axles on the frame rails and one set in front of the axles on the frame rails, takes the suspension out of the equation:

I don't have JT's but have read and believe that the more vertical the rear jacks are the less bounce you'll have, so no blocks. I also would think the greater the angle of the JT Stabilizers bars have the better they would work. With those thoughts the least blocking the better? I also agree with Mike about center jacks.

We also put stabilizers on our Monty, but the bounce continued so I put scissor jacks in front of the wheels. This has taken most of the bounce out. If you tighten them too much the bounce will come back. There will always be some movement but this helps a lot.

I'm just curious. What would happen if you put in air bags?

Unless you follow the forementioned remidies and carry around 2 extra sets of jacks and a pile of cinder blocks, you'll not eliminate floor bounce. If you were to drop the belly pan to see what's inbetween the twin I beams, you'll find pretty light floor beams (actually welded metal trusses) spaced rather far apart with but a 5/8" piece of plywood laying on top of them. In other words the floor itself flexes as well as the suspension. 2X8 pads under your front and rear jack legs helps somewhat. You'll get used to the slight movement in time.
