Clothes Rod in Front Closet

Hey Montana owners,
Has anyone replaced the clothes rod in the front closet? Our 2014 3402 RL has a clothes rod with the individual holes for each item. My wife hates it. She likes to slide her clothes when she is looking for something. I've looked at some regular clothes rods but they attached in a different way and I was concerned they wouldn't be strong enough to handle the load. Anybody have any suggestions? This is the first place I come when I have a question. It's nice to have the experienced people on this web sight to call upon. Thanks

I replaced mine with a regular wood rod, but I fashioned a middle support rod out of another rod which I anchored to the floor . I cut the top of the middle support rod in a half-circle to cradle the clothes rod, and anchored it to the floor using a clothes rod mount. So far so good. My wife also disliked the individual holes for the hangers.

We went with 3/4" conduit and regular wall rod hangars like in your stick house.

We put a telescoping gray colored metal rode (from Lowes) just below the original hanger bar as you have now. The new rode is supported at the walls by screws and in the middle by two large zip-tie style straps fastened to the original bar. Now we can use both sliding of hangers and/or placing the hangers in the holes just above the new rode. Works great.

We went with a standard wooden rod and added two standard braces that screw to the frame in the ceiling. Lots of weight on there, but it's lasted three years so far over roads that caused our big slide trim to fall and a few other mishaps.

I guess I'm the "odd ball" again because our 3585SA came from the factory with a regular metal rod that is supported from the ceiling at 2 different points. Works fine.

We went to one of the RV Salvage places while at the Fall Rally and purchased 3 or 4 of the round closet rods and the hanging brackets. I did some modifying of the brackets and hung them from the OEM closet rod with the slots in it. I put regular closet rod end holders on each end and also took a couple old broom handles and put them down through the rod to make it heavier and more sturdy(the originals were a bit flimsy). This works great and as said previously in anther post if we want to hang the clothes on the original slotted bar we can but it's much easier getting to items on the end of the closet rod now since we can slide the clothes back and forth.

We also have a wooden pole in the closet with an installed center pole fasten to the cross pole & the floor. We really load up the pole with clothes & have not had any problems.

Our new fancy-dancy "individual connected-to-the-ceiling" rod actually tore out of the ceiling, bent, and ended up mostly on the floor during our first month of ownership. I wasn't impressed with Keystone's new design.

Anyhow, I replaced with a regular wood rod. It has standard metal hardware at each end which is screwed/glued into the side of the closet. For a center support I cut two pieces of oak and finished them. They are attached to the factory dresser in the middle of the closet.

Same here the DW hated it so i just took a closet rod then hung the rod from the bar that has the holes in 3 spots with pipe strap and now she is happy.

Our 3720RL came with a rod that allows sliding the hangers. The only problem was that only two supports held it to the ceiling. When the clothes were hung it had a serious sag in the middle. We had the dealer install two more supports. That did the trick - no sagging and no signs of any screws pulling out.
