First Photo of 2017 Ford Superduty. F250

The next generation F250-550 a highly secret project had its first real photo released recently. It's 750 lbs lighter and seems to follow the new F150 design. I personally will withhold judgement till its out in person, in F450 form. It's a sneak preview of what's next.

Be kind people it's just a preview!

Why does Ford insist on coming up with horrendously ugly grills!

Not too bad. Front looks like the Flex. If it's so secret why pictures 2 years early?

I have some reservations on Ford's switch to aluminum. It saves weight and is less prone to corrosion, but I'm concerned about long term paint issues (aluminum can be difficult to get paint adhesion) and perhaps more important, collision repair. When GM introduced the APV Lumina, insurance rates skyrocketed when it was found out that collision shops either couldn't repair them, thus totaling out a vehicle with relatively minor damage, or the cost to repair was excessive because collision shops had no method of bringing the space frame (what the plastic body panels were fastened to) back into spec. Fortunately, since the Ford HD won't be out for at least another year, prospective buyers may have a better chance to know if these things will problems based upon the 150 models. Before buying one, I would be sure to check these factors out so I didn't end up with sticker shock when I called the insurance company.

There isn't much they could do/change short of tripling the MPG to pry me out of my 2015. I agree it looks a bit GM. I hope they keep the standard fenders on the DRW.

I have a 2015 F150 ordered so I've been keeping up with the aluminum body. This is what Allstate says:
“The result of all this work ahead of the new truck ever hitting the road is that the insurance premiums on the 2015 Ford F-150 are in line with the prior model year when Ford used steel instead of aluminum,” said Dave Border, Allstate vice president of Vehicle Product Management, in a release.
State Farm agrees. The guys that have switched insurance from another truck for the most part have noticed a slight decrease in their rates.
I wish they would build a 5 L Ecoboost. If it put out the same power as their other EB engines per liter it would have about 600 HP and 700 T. With 90% of its power from 1700 RPS to 4000. I would be the first in line to get one.

Agree with JandC...it is similar to Chev. Thought Ford was staying with F150 only all Alum?

GM and Chysler have talked to both Alcoa and Kiser about securing enough aluminum to build their trucks. That much aluminum isn't avible now. Ford has it all sewed up for the next 3 to 4 years. After that all pickup trucks will have an aluminum body.
