converter fan

I was in my Monty today doing some stuff. I had some lights on and after awhile the converter fan turned on. Which is normal. But i noticed the fan was speeding up and slowing down. Now I don't think I've heard that before. I know I heard it turn off and on, but never just faster and slower. Is this sound normal?

I don't think that is normal. I would check for a loose connection of the wires going to the fan motor.

Swanny- Our converter fan works exactly as you described. It seems the more 12v powered items we turn on the more it surges.I've pulled the panel several times to access the converter and troubleshoot for loose/faulty wiring but found nothing.

Ours is the same. We probably have a different brand converter than the Montana though. Ours is by Good Friendship Company, while all the Montana's I have seen have the Iota converters.

Must be normal, as ours does the same thing. We've had it for several months now, and have had no problems with it.

Another vote for normal operation. That's how ours works. The more 12 volts lights on the higher the speed.

Read IOTA web site and the fan is proportional, it runs the speed that it needs to cool the converter. If you do not have the SMART CHARGER SYSTEM I would recommend that you look at getting it. They explain how it works on the web site.
