Closet Rod
We were wondering if anyone has had to replace their closet rod in the big closet?
We are slowly moving into our 34' Big Sky and if we will need to replace the rod, now would be the time to do it.
The rod in our rig seems to be heavy and has a middle support, but of course, nothing is hanging on it yet.

We had our closet rod bend and come down, I straightened it and put a 1/2" steel pipe inside the closet rod and now, no more problem. It was a simple fix. The steel pipe was purchased at Lowe's or Home Depot, I think it cost about $5.00.

Ours came down in 2001 and I repaired it by anchoring it to the shelf above the rod. I used a screw hook screwed into a 1X2 which I placed on top of the shelf in the middle. Then I used some coat hanger wire, wrapped it around the rod and tied it to the screw hook. Didn't cost anything. You have to do what you have to do. So, I did it.

ours collapsed. Pulled out of the wall on the TV side in the 3400. Could not believe they attached the rod to that flimsy wall. Re enforced the rod as above and the flimsy wall with a chunk of 2x4

I took a piece of 1 1/2" pvc, notched one end with a hole saw and cut it to length so that it fit tight under the clothes rod and placed it in the center of the rod.

We replaced ours with a metal rod from a closet kit and then Bob screwed all the supports in from the topside.

Yes, you'll find that a lot easier to do. I didn't have enough room on the bed to pile all our clothes on when I repaired ours! Seems as though we can't get rid of anything!

When ours feel, Carolyn still says I hit that dip to fast, it pulled out the center support. I replaced with a metal closet rod from Lowe's and drilled through, from the bottom of the shelf, and used short bolts with large fender washers on the top and small lock washers and nut on the bottom. Now when I am a little fast on the dips it does not move but boy do the dishes bounce.

We have traveled thousands of miles with ours totally full and had no problems. Of course from year to year the installation changes so maybe the 05 had better support.
Happy trails.............
