I did both of those roads about 18 months ago. They are very good roads and as long as two lane doesn't bother you, you will have absolutely no problems.

The stretch of 220 from the 287 junction to casper follows the old Oregon Trail and there are many pullouts and historic sites to visit. Some nice secluded BLM campsites around the Atlantic City Wy area.
