Back up Camera

Hi Everyone,
New Rver's here Tina and I have a 2014 3750FL we are picking it up on the April 1st. The question is do we need a backup camera? if yes what brand would you recommend?

Thanks
Bob

A backup camera is not a necessity, it's a nicety. A pair of eyes directing your backing is much better. (assuming you and your partner can communicate calmly)

I agree. 8 years of full timing and getting 40' Monty's in tight spots we've never needed one. Joyce calls me on here phone and I talk to here thru the speakers on the truck.

Backup cameras are not required. They are nice to have.

I have a backup camera and use it changes lane in heavy traffic. When my wife was still working I would set up the camper without her and I used it a lot. The only time I use it now is if she is in my blind spot I will look in the camera.

Using a back up camera is nice for parking but I use it a lot more for changing lanes. Especially when passing semi trucks and need to get back in lane. I consider it a safety issue.

Hi

congrats to your new coach
I love the back up cam.
Its great on the road to see behind you or as Kemo said for getting back into your lane.

We have a Furrion Back Up Cam which normally fits into the space on the back of your RV when equipped.
If I would buy again I would shoot for the Furrion Observation Cam as that model is meant to stay on the whole time.
Also there is a new Furrion 2 out with better reception.

For backing up a 2. set of eyes and cheap walkie talkies from the super store will work the best
Walkies will save the yelling at each other

Mike

I am sorry but in some households a backup camera is an absolute necessity. No laughing!

Yes.but I have been around some truckers who could have benefited from a camera.

I don't know what they did but I bet they would have done the same thing(s) even if they had a camera. A bad apple is a bad apple.

We have had one on both our Montanas since 2006. We do not use it as a backup camera but as a rear view mirror .The cam is mounted on the top rung of our Ladder and we can see what is in back of us, what is coming up on us and what is passing us. We would not leave home without it.

If you're interested in a remote, portable system (used) let me know. My daughter in Dallas has a system for sale, it works great.
