Trailer Insurance Cost????

Can I get some insurance costs that you are paying for on your 5th wheel. We just got our bill; $913.00 for full coverage, not full timers insurance. (National Interstate)

Mine is between $350-400 with Erie Insurance that is an adder to my car & truck insurance. Make sure they aren't insuring it as a full time rig as that does raise it. Also check the deductibles they are using - mine is at $500 for my rates.

Stay away from nationwide aka allied insurance. It took 7 months to get a fraction of what they owe us from our fire damage looks like were gonna have to sue them for the rest. I switched to progressive they were 450. with 500 deductible.

Progressive has been more than fair with us. But re your question, insurance costs vary across the board based on what specifics you sign up for and what coverage you want.

Is this an error? Have had State Farm for years. Bought new 2015 3611 last Aug. State Farm wanted over $1600. Had been paying about $1000 yr. on SOB for 10 yrs. Went with Natl. Gen.(Good Sam) for $950. Going up to $1260 now! I need another Ins. company I guess.

We use Allstate and it runs around 500 per year with a 100 deductible. I have had to make to separate claims and they have always been very prompt and never questioned the repairs. Their main concern was us being happy with their service.

Well DW says $125 State Farm. May be because we have 3 vehicles and a house and life insurance. Guess I will have to look at it when we get home.

I can tell you that when we were full time we used Progressive because of the type of full time policy they had. It was about $1,100 a year, 2014 Montana, credit scores over 800, and a car with them. When we went part time and bought a home we stuck with them for everything. They would only reduce our Montana policy to $900 plus per year. We ended up getting it at Farmers for just over $600 per year.

Just finished shopping around the new SOB MH and Good Sams/Camping World had the best price for us.

We have everything with State Farm and I pay $1050/year with a $1000 deductible. Clearly I need to go insurance shopping.

As I mentioned, many variables determine cost. We have fulltime coverage (because of snowbirding six months in Florida), which includes a locked in $75K cash payout for five years from date of purchase, if the rig is wrecked or damaged beyond repair. We have an additional policy with them for our boat. USAA is our primary insurance carrier, does not do fulltime coverage, but partners with Progressive. I signed up re 1000 deductible, but because Progressive rewards safe drivers, my deductible has reduced to $250. Our annual premium is $707.

Insurance rates will vary from state to state even within the same company. I pay $337 annually with a $500 deductible with State Farm. Premium is based upon the suggested retail cost when the unit was new. The State Farm policy is not designed for full timers. It does not include liability or personal property coverage. They assume you have coverage under your home insurance for this type of property. The policy does cover the furniture and equipment furnished with the trailer from the manufacturer. In California, the coverage is actual cash value. This means that it is not replacement cost and if your rig is destroyed, payment is based upon current market value, similar to your car insurance. I suspect the more expensive policies have replacement cost, contents, liability and low deductibles. Evaluate your risk to see what fits you style. Full timers definitely need more complete coverage than us part timers.

Have been with Allied insurance, a subsidiary of Nationwide, for 4 years without any claims, however; while driving on I-90 interstate, the pin on rear tandem axle broke holding the leaf spring. This caused one side of the axle to slide back. Fortunately, no collateral damage to the 5th, thanks in part to good driving skills. Total cost for the damages, about 3K. Allied covered the costs, but has taken my "good driver status" away and then increased our annual rate by $235. Of course, I called Allied to determine why my "good driver status" was changed, since there was no fault of mine that contributed to the bolt braking, and was told, "that's the way they look at it, period". In other words, just because you did everything right, the fact is that you were there. Needless to say, we're shopping around, but the saying "Nationwide is on your side" is just plain "bull". Allied has also recently stated they will no longer cover RV's longer than 35 ft.

Been with USAA since age of 18. Check with USAA re your policy coverage on the RV. We carried as well on our car policy for years, but USAA moved us to Progressive via a business relationship they have, as USAA policy does not provide the liability/coverage normally desired by fulltimers or folks who snowbird, go seasonal etc. If you are in the weekend or vacation mode of camping, then USAA coverage is fine.

It depends on the coverage you purchase the State you live in and your Rver status, Fulltime , etc.
We have been using progressive for years the year cost is 428.00 100 deductible declared Rv value.

I have everything with State Farm. I think the trailer is around $500 with a 500 deductible. Also, it is NOT a full new vehicle replacement policy.
