Travel ~Hot meal ready at end of travel day?

This seems trival w/ all the technical issues.

Has anyone a suggestion how to have a Hot meal ready and waiting for you at the conclusion of a long travel day. when you're trying to make mileage and don't want to stop early.

I looked for a battery operated slow cooker but found small tank propane. We've done frozen meals after obtaining shore power or generator.

A crock pot doesn't take much power, so you could use a small 12VDC to 115VAC inverter, or I think I've seen 12VDC Slow Cookers at CW, but I could be wrong.
We generally stop and get setup before dark, so it hasn't been an issue for us.

We have at times traveled as you do. I have prepared roast in crock pot prior to our travel day, about a week prior, freeze it, then take it out on day of travel. Works great. Recently I did a roast and turkey breast this way and both where great. Hot meal at end of day.

Our approach is different, and I know will not work for those of you used to a large meal for your dinner/evening meal.

We have, for years, had our large meal of the day at midday.

For dinner, we have fruit, yogurt, cheese and crackers, those types of things, finger foods.

We both have issues with large meals and reflux when we go to the land of zzzzzzzzzzzzz if we eat later in the day.

Another option, just an option. LOVE options!

Sometimes we like our hot meal at the end of the day at a restaurant where we fit out rig. We especially like someone else doing the cooking and the cleaning and getting served. Unfortunately, I could get so comfortable and relaxed I can barely move.

A crockpot and an inverter is a good idea. Just make sure the crockpot is stable and someplace that can take the heat. Hmmm, maybe inside the oven.

When I was 4 wheeling we used to wrap our food I tin foil, put it on the manifold or radiator and after a run we could pull it off the motor and it would be piping hot.

If you stop at truck stops or travel centers like Pilot/Flying J or TA for your diesel, check out the stores inside. They usually have a whole aisle of really nifty & unique appliances for truckers to be able to cook while driving down the road. Most of them even sell dashcams that are seeming to be the new toy of choice.

I cook ahead of time and freeze my meals. I use them when we have a long travel day or when we have been out for a very long day.

It works for us.

I have cooked fish this way several times and it actually works quite well, never made a full meal, but it cooked the fish and provided a hot meal. The old in line 6 engines were the best as they had a nice easy to access manifold.

I don't tend to worry about a hot meal after a long day of traveling, whatever my DW puts in front of me I eat, hot, cold or somewhere in between. If we can refuel and eat out later in the day we try to do that so we can relax when we stop get a decent start in the morning.

Never thought about that. We do not travel long distances per day and are in a C.G by 4 or 5Pm and can do a hot meal or find a place to eat out.

Way back in the days .... when we were camping with a tent and had a baby daughter . . . we made a trip to California. One day as we approached the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, I wired some canned Swiss steak, and some vegetables wrapped in foil, to the manifold of our auto manifold (much simpler engine). We stopped for a hot lunch near a forest stream. What a delicious memory--and I mean far more than food.

We will make homemade Chile or beef Stew freeze that morning bring down to Fridge helps keep the fridge cool once we get to our Camp ground Micro Wave.
Their is one Campground in South Carolina (I95) that has a Pizza shop and delivers to your site we love that!

We stay there on our way down and back from Florida. Helen likes a couple of their wines and we do the wine tasting every stay.
