RV Park Showers/Restrooms

Probably none of my business, but I don't understand why people spend big money for a fifth wheel, travel trailer, or motor home with large showers and bathrooms, and then use the RV Park's public accommodations. One of the main reasons we like having a sizeable unit is so we never have to use a public restroom or shower.
Another mystery to me.

Some people use the RV shower for storage, some people's showers are too small for them. Different reasons. I never use public facilities as I like ours better.

We have always used the trailer unless we did not have sewer hookup, would be staying a few days, and had the grandson with us. Then my grandson and I would use the park shower and the DW use the trailer. Did not carry a tote with us.

Good friend usually used the park shower and restroom simply because he was a large man.

Not me, just got back from Myrtle Beach Pirateland campground, I`ve never seen so many over weight people. They just can`t fit in the campers facilities, especially the women. Thank you Myrtle Beach commissioners for banning Thong bathing suits on the public beaches.

We have a nice bathroom and shower. We also had up to 11 children and adults visiting us at the camper for many days off and on and we were going to be parked without a chance to dump for 28 days (14 days on one site, 14 days on another)... we send them to the RV park showers and bathrooms. Also if the RV park bathroom is close when I need to drop a stinky, I will go there instead of my camper.

Also if showers are real nice, I'll go take a long hot one at the shower house in lieu of the camper but in SW Missouri and NW Arkansas, I'd say 90% of the places we camp do not have full hook up.

You seldom have to worry what type of large bug or spider that is in the shower or stall if you only use your camper.

There is only two of using all the facilities and we do full hookups. In our S&B I can walk around in our shower stall not so in the RV but I will take the RV facilities any day over campground facilities.

If we have sewer and water hookups, we use the camper facilities. If we only have electric or electric and water, we use the campground showers. I can go for about eight days before having to dump. We seldom set still in one campground that long.

It is rare that we do not have full hookups but it happens at times in fairgrounds at rallies. We have a 30 gallon blue tote on wheels that we bring for gray water when needed.

Always use the 5er shower. One of the big reasons for the Montana is a bigger shower. I'm not that big but most camper showers are small. Never have more than my wife and I and Roscoe gets an outside shower unless it is cold.

X2 on only using the RV facilities. Not a big fan of public showers.

We're recreational campers. We spend "big money ?" for our RV's and boats and DO use the facilities showers and crappers. Most places we go do not have full hookups and we don't have a tote yet. A few friends drop by, lotsa suntan lotion to wash off ... doesn't take many days before onboard tanks get full. That's why you see people use the facilities ... you pay for whether you use it or not it in your camping fees. A nice long shower after a hard day on the lake is way better than the ole Navy shower in the fiver. I also have a friend should he use the fiver for his manly needs ... would make it uninhabitable for several hours.

My original post pertained to watching people in big expensive rigs using the rv park facilities in a full hook-up park. I haven't taken a Navy shower since we had a tent trailer. Admittedly, we do not dry camp anymore.

We use the shower and bathroom for liquids, usually try to use park facilities for solids. Middle of the night or stomach problems we use our bathroom. As we are not full timers we try to avoid the hassle of lots of solids in the black tank. Shower is not a problem with the electric and gas option on the ten gallon water heater. Everyone has their own ideas on this subject and you also get to hear the frustrations of people having issues with their black water tanks.
