I almost always look at campgroundreviews.com. But you have to take the reviews with a grain of salt. Often times someone will give a park a very low rating because "the desk person had a bad attitude", "wifi was not good", "someone left trash in the fire pit", etc. without really saying anything about how good or bad the actual sites and facilities were. If the park reviews are generally 8-10 and there are a couple of 2-3 for (in my opinion) petty reasons, then I pretty much ignore those. And conversely, if the park generally gets 2-4 and there are a couple of glowing 10s, then I question the validity of those also.

I typically use google maps street view and satellite view to get an idea of a park before choosing.

I try to remember to give a review of each place we stay. Just wish more did to keep it more current.
I agree. If there are only a few reviews, I pretty much discount them and look somewhere else. I'll take an overall opinion with hopefully a fair number of reviews, maybe 8-10 or more. I've found that to be a pretty accurate accounting of a campground.

RV Park Reviews: http://www.campgroundreviews.com/

Most of the others seem to be more oriented towards making them all sound great.

After 10 years of travel, our experience is to use RV Parks Reviews along with Google Earth to look at the park. Since we don't travel with pets, the concerns of pet owners--only gravel, etc.--are not important to me. So I read the reviews and make an evaluation based on information that is appropriate--basically what others are saying!

We do the same
If we are contemplating a longer stay than overnight, we will stay at a potential site 1 or 2 nights.

More than anything else we use word of mouth. Asking for recommendations here and on other forums we belong to have been the best scources for finding parks we will like.

$115 a night with those "amenities"? I'd be packing up and leaving the next morning.
Try asking our MOC members for recommendations based on 1st hand knowledge. They are very helpful.

OK, I don't see where you can read reviews on Good Sam, and All Stays is not very thorough in rating the current site we are at. We are in Goleta, CA near Santa Barbara, CA on the coast near the ocean, at Ocean Mesa at El Capitan RV Park, and Woodall's and Good Sam rate this place a 9 or above, and there is hardly any wifi, and there is a methane/sewer smell at the bottom of this park where we are at, and there are ants everywhere, and no grass, just concrete pads and dirt, and it is $115/ night here? WTH?

We have learned in these last two trips, and 5,000 miles, and about 16 RV parks, that no matter what the rating, the RV park is not going to be something so special, that you would just want to stay there, and not venture out into the region that you picked to visit. Sure it is fun to BS with other RV'ers, but 16 RV parks, and they all seem to have their drawbacks, even though we picked sites that were rated 8.5 and above on Woodall's So I started submitting reviews for campgroundreviews.com thanks for enlightening us.
