Landing Gear/Stabilizers

We have a 2009 Anniversary Edition 3400 Montana with the remote controls. The outside landing gear and stabilizer switches (not remote) do not work. They still work with the remote. I checked the fuse box and the inline switch. Any ideas? Is there a relay switch I should check?

Jack & Betsy,
I just had the very same problem with our rig and fixed it yesterday. Here is the link to a post from a while back: Outside Switches. The fix is on page 4 posted by GTOWag. I moved the ground for the manual switches from the remote receiver to the chassis ground and everything is now working again.

May be the circuit board, that was our problem

That probably is the problem. As I understand it from reading the above referenced post, there is a "failsafe" circuit to keep the user from using the remote switches and the manual switches at the same time. The connections on the receiver in the front compartment only effect the landing gear and stabilizer switches. The failsafe will not provide a ground to the manual switches when the remote system is energized and will sometimes get "locked" in that position. That is what happened to ours. Like I said, I just moved the ground from the receiver to the chassis and everything works again. You can replace the receiver module, but I think Lippert wants around $150-$200 for it and it will probably just fail again. Our rig is out of warranty so this was the best economical fix for us. JMHO.

OK I tried to troubleshoot the receiver. I pushed the reset? button, the light flickered and went out. Went into the access panel and turned the power on. The light is back on, but now nothing works. Could someone walk me through how to ground the stabilizers and landing gear to the trailer if that's the problem.

Problem solved! Thanks to the priceless help of Jack (jackel1959), who, with a phone call had the stabilizers/landing gear working as well as the remote control. Where Keystone drops the ball, this forum and its members pick it up and score! Thanks so much!

I have the same problem on my 09/10th Anniv. Edition (340 RLQ). It was diagnosed as 'failed control board'. I have been told that this is not covered on the extended warranty policy, but my selling dealer (Bretz RV, Missoula, Mt.) will cover it on his 'customer appreciation' policy.
Cost Estimate was about $330 for the part, .7 hrs labor + shop materials.
I dont understand why the extended warranty plan won't cover it (as I read the policy, every thing in the landing gear system is covered, [motors, switches, contacts, gears, etc.), but no worry since Mr. Bretz is helping us out..

With the guidance of Jackel1959, I moved the ground for the manual switches from the remote receiver to the chassis ground and now everything works.

I had the same problem with my 2009 Montana. Remote worked but, the Exterior switches for the Landing Gear, and Stabilizer wouldn't work.
After trying everything I brought it back to the dealer. They told me the controller was bad and a new one would be $318.00. So, I would have a total of approximately $500 into it to get the switches working. I got on line and Carl replied. He told me about Jack's problem, and fix. I followed what Jack did and presto it was fixed.
Thanks Jack, and Carl, I really appreciate your help.
P.S. There are cheaper places to purchase the contoller on line.
I found a site which had one for $155.00. Gary
