From all my research, I have learned that the only difference between the 2500 and 3500 are two items. The 3500 has one extra leaf in the springs, and lights on the cab's roof. That's it! In every other aspect, they are the same truck

By adding a set of Firestone Airbags I have taken any sagging out of the rear of the truck. In essence I have added the extra leaf with the air bags and I am not the only 2500 or 250 owner that has done this and so far as I know NONE of the 2500 or 250 owners have ever had a problem. In fact the majority of MOCers are towing rigs with much the same weights, in some cases more weight, as the 3585SA Monty you are looking at purchasing using either a 2500HD or F250.
In my opinion, if the majority of us are using a 2500 or 250 without a problem, than I would say you have made the correct choice in not just the TV but the Monty as well.
HOWEVER, I do know from years of experience that you will never win this discussion. From your replies, I do believe you have made your decision on what TV you will be using and any further discussions in this thread will only lead to a pi$$ing match between the 2500/250s and the 3500/350s.

I don't see why anybody would be mad, you asked some questions and were given a range of opinions/information. What you do with it is your decision. If you decide you're not comfortable with this truck, for whatever reason, you'll get a different one. Just enjoy the what you have and the RVing lifestyle.

I just traded a 2980 for a 2008 3485. I have been pulling the 2980 with a 2003 Dodge for almost 2 yrs. I have the airbags on the rear and a slider hitch. I was not sorry that I bought the hitch or the airbags. On flat ground you will be fine but if you ever get into a situation where one vehicle is on a different level you may be thankful you bought the slider. As far as the truck goes it will do fine. If you look at the specs you will see the 2980 carrys 500lbs more pin weight than the 3485. I have never had a problem and my opinion is the same as Glenn's. There are tollerances that are built into those specs. Al

The bottom line is you have to decide what is right for you. Your 2500 will be over weight, you can easily verify that by doing the numbers. It's up to you to decide if you can live with that or not. After doing my numbers (and having a heart to heart with a lawyer), I made the decision that I wanted to stay within the truck's ratings, that's why I drive a dually.

Steve we did a over 100 % turn the other day with a short bed ford and a pullrite and still had 4" to spare , i bet we could get a 120% IF NEEDED JOHN

I believe he meant a 100° turn but I would be very careful going past 90° as you can damage the Superglide. There are stops on the Superglide to prevent too tight a turn. Going beyond those stops can do damage to the hitch.

My thought is that a 100% turn is a 90 degree turn, or a "full" turn. I did this once. In a friend's new construction home yard - clay - I had to turn my 3400RL 180 degrees to get out. Put the truck at a 90 degree angle (4 wheel drive) and spun the Montana right on it's axles in the wet clay. Looked like it was on a turntable. Impressive. Needed a bath afterward, though...
I might add that I also benefit from a long bed GMC...
