Yet another tire story NOT MISSIONS...doh
Well, yesterday was doing a Sunday prep for pending depart on Tuesday AM. Got my truck washed and washed DW's Trailblazer doing the DH with love thing....moved the washing materials to the Monty, pulled off the sunny side tire covers and OH, NO!!! right rear tire is nearly flat?!
Background info to this story...
last year, yes just one year ago same time of year we were heading to this same campground and that same tire (LT General AWS) tore to shreds on I95 in Hartford, CT. Got it replaced along with the other opposite side, same axle...just because...I thought I should have matched tires. Well, they had some LT's and not my first choice but were my "last" choice allowing me to continue on...BUT they didn't have, valve stems. Yep, that's right a AAA recommended Firestone Garage had LT's load range E's in stock...no valve (high pressure) stems!!!
There you go now you know...that very old valve stem failed. Off I went this AM with three tires...one deflated and other two with the same vintage valve stems I had forgotten to have them replaced. The job is done now and yes...just maybe a reason NOT to cover your tires from unwanted UVR's (Ultra Violet Radiation).
I wish I could provide a good reflective answer to this experience but am just humbled by knowing I had just (3 weeks ago) returned from a 700 mile round trip to Cape Cod, Ma...although rainy...basically uneventful. Seems someone has been watching over me albeit I was not co-operating very well. I will thank him this Sunday with even more direct appreciation!
