I've been there with the truck thing and before we bought the Monty, we had a TT and towed with a 1500 then upgraded to a 2500 then the 3500 DRW before getting the Monty. I was looking at the 3500 SRW at that time, however, the pin weight would've put us over the trucks payload capacity, so went with the DRW just for the payload. Those numbers you posted are the dry weights and once you add the hitch, passengers, cargo to the rig, you'll be close to your payload on the truck. When we looked at the FL Model, it was even close to my payload on my DRW so got the 3700LK instead. Yeah, some will say "add air bags, just roll with it, etc. "however, adding air bags doesn't add payload, it just provides a smoother level ride. Can it tow it, yeah, would I, nope, remember, towing is one thing, stopping and stopping quickly if needed is another.

Do you guys realize a dullay has slightly less rear brakes than a 2500 or 3500 srw?
This is what we found.

In the big picture, the trailer brakes stop the trailer and the truck brakes stop the truck. There is some ability for the trailer to stop the truck or the truck to stop the trailer. You are in an emergency situation when that happens and it needs to be fixed or towed with a tow truck before continuing.

Fords have the same size brakes on SRW and DRW.

Type 4-wheel vented-disc ABS (standard)
Front (rotor diameter) 14.29" (363 mm) (F-250/F-350)
15.39" (391 mm) (F-450)
Rear (rotor diameter) 14.29" (363 mm) (F-250/F-350)
15.75" (400 mm) (F-450)

The small difference in rotor size is insignificant. The main thing is the size of the brake pads. The rotor could be 6 feet in diameter but the same pads will produce no more braking than the 14 inch rotors specified.

Your correct but the tire diameter and weight also change braking. A good example is the F350 and F450. F450 has bigger brakes but has larger heavier tires. If you do the calculations they both have the same braking pawer.
