Do You Cover Your PullRite 16k SuperGlide Hitch?

Okay, we have installed the PullRite 16k SuperGlide. Now for those of you who have this particular hitch with it's unique shape, where did you get your cover for it?

I'm looking at the PullRite #3334 cover online and depending upon where you buy it, the price ranges from $120 to $250.

Have you found something that works/looks good and is tons cheaper in price?

If you made your own and are satisified with it, would you be willing to tell me what the outside finished dimensions are?

Thanks.

Doug, just one question-- Why do you want to cover your hitch? I haven't covered mine since I've had it and have had no problems with it do to the environment. Perhaps out in California you have I law that requires it, I don't know, but sure haven't had any problems with mine uncovered.

We didn't have any problems with our last hitch but we also didn't cover it and it attracted rust and needed more maintenance because of being exposed to the elements. We are still "weekend warriors" until my husband retires. I'm going to buy a cover or make one to use for the times we aren't pulling the Montana. Margee.

The rails are always greasy so I use an old air conditioner cover and a bungy cord so I don't get grease on stuff I haul.

When home I pull the hitch and use the cover. Cover stays home when pulling. Bed cover keeps it clean.

Doug, I have the same hitch. For an inexpensive cover when needed, I bought a vinyl cover for a Weber Q grill from CW for 10 bucks. I cut out a hole for the handle and just slip it over the hitch. It has an elastic band at the bottom that keeps it in place. It doesn't cover the rails, but I live with that. Keeps dirt and sand out of the hitch mechanism.

Like your idea of a grill cover. Probably a whole lot cheaper without the fancy logo. Run mine without cover and just spray paint maybe once a year.

Same with us as well. We have a Bakflip whole bed cover that also covers the hitch. Pretty much keeps it looking "as new".
I think it's a great idea to cover it as long as you maintain it as directed. I believe it will last you MUCH longer if you do this.
Corrosion is your enemy here and it looks terrible to boot!

I have never covered ours and have not had a problem and it still looks good. I feel it is just something other to have to carry around and store when pulling.

Go to Bass Pro shops and look at the boat seat covers, they're about the right size and shape

Ranch560, I'm going to go get a Weber Q cover tomorrow and see how that does, at least until I get around to making a custom cover. If it fits as you say, I might not have to make a cover. For $10, it's definitely worth trying.

After spending $1200 for the new hitch, the installation extras and the time it took to install it, following PullRite's advice to keep the hitch covered while not in use is a simple and smart thing to do. It's cheap insurance against dirt, bugs, rain, rust and whatever else the elements can throw at it.

Thanks to everyone who contributed an idea for a hitch cover.

We have had our 18k for almost seven years and never covered. A little maintenance as needed and it looks great.

We have always covered ours, with different bed cover brands. They do get greasy and grimy.

Ranch560 (Jim & Kristi): Turns out there's three sizes of Weber Q grills. Do you happen to remember which size cover you bought? I was just trying to get the correct one on my first try. Thanks.

Doug, it was for the small grill, the 100 series. It's not a perfect fit; probably because it was made for a bbq, but it covers my hitch nicely when cinched up. And like you, I feel the Pullrite brand cover is a bit too pricey.

For me after spending the price to the hitch what is another $110 for the cover. It works good and keeps the hitch from sliding back and keeps it clean. The cover is reinforsted with wood shims to keep it from waring out. I love the cover

i also have he Pullrite cover. Had to replace masonite stiffener board with luan. Also added four grommets on bottom to tie it down. velcro with self-adhesive backing is what comes with it. The velcro works great for a short while. I spray mine with 303, and it still looks great after three years.
