Inverter

I was wondering if some of you had added a converter so you could watch TV or a movie etc while dry camping? I know some of them come with a inverter for the home style refrigerator. I still have a small 200 watt and a 1000 watt inverter in my garage. I did notice on my walk through that in the bedroom there is a lighter plug in so I could use it for DC power for the small inverter to provide AC to that TV.
I do have a built in generator but will not want to always have to run it to watch TV while dry camping. I will have to check and see if I can find any more lighter plugins near the outside and living room TV's.

Our rig has a 12v plug behind the bedroom TV, in the front closet and in the basement next to the AC plug in. Since we're solar we have a large inverter and it certainly is handy.

The bedroom TV is DC, while the living area one is AC. Don't know about your model, but most will allow you to put the bedroom one down in the basement so you can watch while outside.

I will have to recheck but I think all three shut off when shore power was disconnected. 3160RL with small tv and radio/DVD player built into an outside hatch behind our fireplace. It appeared that the bedroom and outside tv were hooked into the same Satellite feed. Unfortunately they did not do a great job of labeling switches.

We use an Inverter/Charger from Magnum which has an ad-on as option to auto start the generator when power drops below a certain level if you have an onboard generator which i do not. Great product and great support. Power most of the rig off 4 6v batteries. The Bedroom has two DC jacks and Basement has one but only one of the Bedroom ones is used for the DC TV. Magnums are expensive so if I were only weekending I'd stick with one of the units you have and figure out how to wire the LR TV if that's your only need.

My 2013 Mountaineer came with a Jensen TV in bedroom. It will operate 12V DC or 110V AC.

We just purchased a 2015 Montana 3160RL. We will be doing more boondocking now that we're retired and we enjoy that morning coffee and watching TV. We had a 2000 watt Xantrex pure sine inverter installed, along with (4) golf cart batteries. Many of the National Parks limit hours on generator use, and other places it's just common courtesy. Ours has the two circuits isolated in a subpanel with a Xantrex panel in the basement. I will be installing a Bogart Trimetric in the electronics panel. Our living area outlets are on the inverter, but that's all.

For those just wanting to add a DVD player to the 12 volt bedroom TV, we installed a Jensen 12 volt DVD player http://www.my12voltstore.com/JENSEN_..._p/dvdb01m.htm . I mounted it above the TV using aluminum angle stock, and when we are unable to get satellite or OTA reception, we just watch DVDs.
