use existing TV mount to install new 32"? - Montana Owners Club

Has anybody upgraded to a 32" TV and used the factory mounting bracket by just relocating it and mounting TV on the outside of the wood frame? I am gonna try this later with our new Sony Bravia and with a lil luck it will work and look ok!? we will see, Thanks in advance for the info

I put a 32" TV in by attaching it to a board and attaching the board to the outside of the frame hole with a piano hinge. That way I still have access to behind he TV.

good idea! I can get to the back of ours by removing the CD drawer,tight but accessable

Success! Just had to drill 2 of the 4 mounting holes on the backing plate, mounted it too TV and slid it into place, of course I need to cut out some of the wood trim to set it back in as far as possible and remount the base plate after depth is determined. I will let ya know how it goes, so far really pleased and wife loves her new TV!

I am currently looking at sets and trying to determine which one is the best for the size of the area. I think I am going to put a piece of plywood from the bottom of the slide out to the top of the hole and then mount it with the swivil wall mount. This way I can still pull the tv out from the wall and twist it whichever direction I need. After talking with the guys at Best buy I am goign to go with the Panasonic because they also make a "tough book" laptop which is built with the same design on their television sets. I will keep you posted.

We also have the 2007 3400RL but ours didn't have a mount, as such, from the factory. Just the analog tv sitting on the floor of the compartment and screwed in place. Is yours different?

We went to a 32 inch LCD in early Feb 2008. After considerable measurement I built a vertical wood mount braced to the ceiling and floor of that compartment (also reinforced those a bit), then mounted a fully articulating mount to that vertical wood piece. The tv is wider than the original opening and is strapped up against that opening's frame when in travel mode. Twice we have forgot to strap the tv and it moved around on the mounting arm but there was no damage. And the mount was not damaged or loosened in any way. I have some pictures here somewhere. our Viewsonic TV was mounted on a slide type mount with a base and an L bracket mounted to back of TV with 4 screws,that slid into and latched in place on the base. I am going to cut away some of the frame around the TV and I can get it to set flush with outside of the frame I will try n get pics when done. I can say I love the new 32 upgrade for sure! thanks for the always great info

I'm trying to visulize all the different mountings described in various posts. I have a 05 3400rl and the TV opening is 26W x 22H, not sure if all the 3400's are the same or not.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to mount a new TV in the opening without having access to the back of it. Will probably stay with a 26" but will have a couple extra 3 inches at the top.
Any good store bought mounting kits available, (brand, model etc). Pictures ???

We replaced our TV with a 32" flat screen LCD. We reinforced the back of the cabinet with a piece of 1/2" plywood and purchased an articulating mount from Sears which extends 14" and by doing that it allowed us to pull the TV out enough to make the necessary connections. Also have room in the cabinet behind the TV for my subwoofer. Can send pictures if needed.
