NEW RECLINERS - Montana Owners Club

We decided to take 4 or 5 days & go on a trip and do a little shopping to get some new recliners for the Monty. Dawn had a heck of a time trying to move the big recliners that came with the monty so she could put the slides in, and didn't like calling me in, when I was outside getting it ready to travel. After 20 or so furniture stores here is what we came up with. They swivel, recline,& come with the ottoman. They only weigh 21.9 Kgs or (48 lbs for our American friends)The material is micro fiber. The chairs are very comfortable to just sit in or recline back. Best of all easy to move around when you want to. Oh yea...about $ 350.00 Can. each.

Those are exacly what I have been looking at putting in my coach. Looks like a very comfy chair, hope to have my heavy recliners switched out next spring. Enjoy!!

Nice looking chairs! I agree, moving the Monty chairs in and out of position for the slides is one of the hardest parts of setting up.

Seriously, Annette usually takes care of all the inside while I'm doing the outside and she won't let me touch those chairs because I hurt my back the first time. I guess it's better to her than me being laid up and whiny all weekend.

Those are nice chairs too, I'll have to keep those in mind, ours are still like new but I know the furniture wears quickly in a camper.

The style of the chair you have is called a "Euro Recliner". Really a great chair. Like you said, much easier to move around. Steve has one in our Monty; I think you guys will be very happy with them. They take up much less room than a traditional recliner. We went to an RV lot this last weekend and saw lots of that style chair in the new motorhomes and fifth wheels.

I too am thinking of replacing the recliners in my Montana.I found a place on line that has a big selection of recliners.The prices seem to be pretty good.

Did you have to take apart the factory recliners to get them out the door?

No, but you will probably have to put them on their side and turn them as you get them out the door.
J&D: They are similar to the ones we put in our coach. We got ours from Palliser.

Like Bill & Ann said, just roll them on their side. They come out pretty easy.
Nice to be rid of them, well out of the trailer anyways. I'll have to watch my pin weight now.
I think Keystone used them as counter balance to off set the pin weight. Ha Ha.

The only reason I was asking on taking them apart was because of how heavy they are.But if I can get them out all in one peace that would be the fastest way to go.I remember when my sister first saw my Montana.the first thing she said was "O how cute are those little recliners"I thought to myself yeah cute and damn heavy(lol)

They sure are heavy. We offset the weight of the recliners with the new Simmons Love Seat sofa bed. It is heavier than the one Keystone put in. So with the lighter recliners and the heavier sofa bed it probably evens out.

I had the same problem with the recliners. As we thought we would wear them out before changing we bought the super slide things and attached them to the frame with plastic ties so they stay on all the time. Now I can move the chairs by myself.

I have decided after looking at the 3600RE (which is the only other trailer I like better then my 3500RL) that the next one will have the recliners on the side won't have to turn to put the slides in.

We have only 1 OEM recliner back there. That space in our 3400 also has the "bird cage" and a small freezer back there. The OEM recliner is sort of bulky and we are looking for one with a smaller footprint. With long-timing use I don't think the OEM recliner will last all that long so we are keeping a eye open.
