Under Bed Storage Pics

Here are the pictures showing the under bed modifications to our 2955. Bob removed the plywood base, cut it across at 22", added a piano hinge, a hand hold and a hook to hold it up. This "flap" gives us access to the "basement" area of the bed. We store file boxes in the slide bracket and a few miscellaneous and sundry items further back. This has been in place for a couple of years with no resulting problems.

Bob and Pam,

Looks like a real nice job, and a good idea.

Lots of nice storage there. We looked at ours and it doesn't have as much space. Good job.

Is that an ironing board that is at the end of the bed? It looks like you have brackets that keep it attached to the bed? I would love to know how you did that.

Nice job. One of our probllems is the 2x4's that go across underneath. This reduces the little bit of space that is there.
Happy trails..................

Pam did Bob build a sub floor in the bottom of the stoage area to support the ideas or do they sit on the carpet and move with the slide? Thanks See-Ya

Driftwoodgal - yes, that is an ironing board at the foot of the bed. Bob attached 3 broom holders, one for the pointy end and two for the "T" end, and the ironing board legs just fit right in. It is up off the floor a little bit so it moves when the bed moves. It's very handy.

Dennis and Debbie - there is no subfloor, just the normal carpet. The file boxes don't move at all. They sit in the iron frame for the hydraulic mechanism with a spring tension rod on each end to keep them from shifting. Our 2955 is a 2001, and the newer models may not have this set up.
