Not quite sure what to think of that. Piss poor attempt by someone to stop a leak ? some kind of vermin chewed it ? Just a real bad example of factory workmanship ?
Are those the water hook up supply tubes to the kitchen sink ?

Fitting
Yes the cold tap. We also had the 3 way blow out at the base of the water heater. All these fittings are 13 years old.
Thanks Den.

If the fittings are plastic, 13 years of stress by towing and water pressure will take a toll and cause failures. My recent experience with my Jacuzzi hot tub at home, after 12 years, 2 plastic fittings to the pumps both started to leak. The fix--repair with metal fittings. In addition the plastic hose was to tight and it contributed to the cracks. OK--not in an RV but it is a similar experience--RV builders use the cheapest part available--and 13 years is beyond what they ever thought the fittings would last--they just wanted the rig to get out of the parking lot for a minute!

Agree, 13 years was a good run for cheap plastic fittings.

We never leave the city water on water pump on while we are not at the unit. This greatly reduces the chance of something like this happening.

Also beware of the quarter turn shutoff valves for the low point drains. Last outing I heard water gushing somewhere. Ran outside and water was pouring out from the convenience center. Here is what I found. And the temporary fix.
11 yr old valves in my case. Good idea to turn off water when you leave for a while.

If you haven't already, use a pressure regulator if on city water, which can sometimes exceed 60psi. Way too much for an RV.

We have a Valterra Adjustable regulator now for 3 years, and has a gauge to show the pressure setting. Got it on e-bay for less than camping world, they want $ 50.00 or so. We have not had a problem since
