For those who are wondering about the larger tanks, the propane generator uses about 0.8 gals per hour at half load and 1.1 gals per hour at full load. Those extra 20 pounds of propane equal about 5 hours additional run time on the generator. When we travel to Florida, it is a sixteen to seventeen hour trip (yes, I am still foolish enough at times to drive it non stop!) The extra propane gives us a cushion in the event we have to run the generator in transit for the pets. We are also looking at an automatic switch for the generator now. It has some neat functions, namely, when the shore power goes out, it turns the generator on. The neat part is it can also be set in conjunction with an air conditioner to monitor the rig temperature, and start the generator (air conditioner as well when left on) for a period of time to bring the temperature back down. Then it shuts the generator down (and air conditioner since power is lost) until the temperature needs dropped again. Pretty neat functional device, but a bit expensive (I priced the entire assembly at about $600.

I definitely want one of those when I start RV'ing, because I have sleep apnea. It is possible to rig the on-board batteries and an inverter to power my Bi-Pap through an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) but your system is much preferable as it can power the air conditioning as well.
Montanas are one of the few RV lines, if not the only one, with special features for customers with sleep apnea.

Hey all, we're new to the owners club although we started with Montana back in 2002 with a Mountaineer TT 310TBS. I traded it in on a Cougar Fiver and had nothing but problems with it. With that in mind, we just bought a '10 3750FL and LOVE it! The quality is impeccable and the front living room is a wonderful place to be a family on the road. Happy trails to you both. up one day.... We have a 2010 Montana 2955... And just finished 8500 mile trip trip Alaska... More room would be nice.... Good Luck...
