Where's our awning going?

Is it normal on a 2018 Montana HC 305RL for the strip that attaches near the top of the rv with short skinny screws and is responsible for holding the edge of the awning to the rv to separate from the rv and appear to be falling to the ground?

Asking for a friend.

Jim&Celia

PS. Have a service call scheduled.
Has not been open in strong winds
We do not let the dog play on top of the awning

A picture would go a long way. And you are sure that it is the rail and not the led light strip? I’d be interested in seeing where they installed the first screw that goes thru the fabric and the rail. Mine were incorrectly installed and replaced by Keystone.

We have the same problem. It was fixed on one end with more screws. Now it has puled away in several more spots. We are taking it in for service this month.

If the awning rear rail strip is pulling away from the filon sidewall putting more screws in will most likely not help..

Instead remove the screws and install 1 inch long x 3/16 tri lock rivets... this will properly attach the rear mounting rail and is hiw the builder should have installed the rail at the factory.

Instead the6 are using cheap self tapping SM screws that have very little hold9ng power

I would recommend Oscar rivets. They are available usually at Wal-Mart,a home improvement store, or Amazon. They work well!

Sadly, Lippert instructions specify 3/4 screws every six inches for the awning rail installation. I could understand if the screws were going into the wall stud for strength, but that wasn’t the case in the instructions. Good luck with getting it fixed.
