Black particles in flush water

'13 Montana with Thetford Style II toilet. Sometimes when flushing, black particles are present in the flush water. The toilet has flooded the rig three times when the flush valve didn't close. I replaced the valve but it still did it. Since new, I have replaced the entire base (lever fell off), the valve and the ball seal. I'm replacing the toilet but would like to know what the black particle are.
PS...the particles are in the fresh water

It could be what TanktechRx calls struvites. On their website, http://tanktechsrx.com/ , they talk about mineral deposits that occur on the walls of waste tanks, and this may be what you are seeing coming out the waste line. I see this quite a bit, and just assume it is these deposits breaking off.

So far, yes. Only the toilets. The other faucets have screens etc. I did look at them and no clogs. You can see them coming out of the discharge apperatus in the bowl.

Do you have a filter on your fresh water line, the hose from the park faucet? I think there is a screen on the city water connection. The only other way to get contaminants into your system would be using water from your fresh water tank that was dirty when you filled the tank from the gravity fill. You might need to remove all the faucet screens and flush the system long enough to clear whatever debris is in your water lines. Maybe you have a gasket that has started to crumble, and that is the stuff you are seeing. Maybe the gasket is in the toilet valve. Surprised that toilet is still working.

I use a filter and water softner. Not using water from tank. Might be a washer or gasket. I'll check faucets and flush system. Could it be the anti syphon valve on the toilet?

I think it's probably construction debris and will clear up

I think it is mold from inside toilet water chambers. Mine did that this year after putting water back on after winter sitting.

Haven't any info on the black specks but that Thetford toilet has many complaints on this forum regarding flooding and poor valves. Many have simply changed over to a Dometic.

I have to agree with rescue7, this sounds like a mold issue. This is not uncommon with devices that control water flow, like ice machines. BTW, ice machines are notorious for mold if not cleaned every week.

I don't know where you can insert a chlorine solution to just tackle the toilet issue. It might be time to drain the tanks and lines then run a chlorine solution through everything. Then flush with baking soda a few times.

Hope this helps.

If you run a wet paper towel under the rim where all the water flush holes are, I bet you notice blackness on that paper towel. Application of a dose of chlorine in the fresh water hose and then only flushing the toilet should clean out all toilet line and maintain that cavity in the toilet rim on the new dometic 310 or 320 toilet.

I agree Mold. Fill your hose with bleech do not turn on any other faucets just the toilet when you smell bleech in the bowl stop and let soak for an hour or so then flush.

First

Disconect hose from faucet drain water then with a helper and a funnel pour bleech in hose be carefull of cloths and grass!
