second refrigerator

Has anybody added a small 110V refrigerator in the outside storage compartment? We have a new 3665RE and would like to get a little extra refrigerator space (didn't manage to get to trade for one with the 12 cubic foot refrigerator). There should be plenty of space, but was wondering if it would be too "closed" of an area for a small refrigerator?

We have a small one in the Washer/Dryer closet. So far no problem. Seems to get plenty ventilation, but I plan to add some kind of vent at the top of the door or maybe above the door.

Considering the size of the outside storage compartment it should be no problem. Just be sure that the back of the refrigerator has room for ventilation.

We have one in our underneath storage for soft drinks and extra water. Works great with no problems.

I'd only worry about RVing in weather that is too cold. Most refrigerators have a minimum ambient operating temperature of 40F. I suppose camping in too hot of weather while it's enclosed might be a concern as well but I don't know what's typical. Check your specs, then make sure you don't camp outside the operating temperatures and you should be good.

When you are not using your rig (or the fridge) the temperature range for storage is much wider in cold or heat.

We also have a 4 cu ft fridge/freezer in our front W/D compartment. We keep the door ajar for ventilation, Great addition......

We bought an extra refrigerator last fall and we keep it under the front of the 5er on a low stand. We just carry it in the back of the truck when on the road. The extra freezer space is also really nice.

We use an Igloo 40 quart 12V cooler in the basement compartment for beer, soda and water which works well for us. It is portable, stays powered while traveling and keeps things cold. The only drawback is these type of coolers will typically only cool to about 40 degrees below what the ambient temperature is, but we've never found this to really be a problem. Once things get cold it holds the temperature pretty well. We are not full timing though so that probably makes a difference.

We have a small upright freezer that we put on the window side of the table. Its heavy enough to ride without tying it down. The extra room for steaks and vegtable, ice creams etc, it really a plus. We had a small refridge and it was hardly used, so it was dumped.

There is enough air circulation, so no problem.
As I overdo everything, I have a small refrigerator freezer where the forward chair is/would be, in a 3400 RL super slide, and a small chest/upright freezer in the back of the Monte, passenger side.
