king pin stablizer

We are new to fifth wheels and have seen others with. tripod stabilizer.
Does it make a difference? Is it worth it since we travel, only staying in one ace for a few days or up to a week!
The sensors always read 1/2-3/4 any suggestions?
Awning above slide out seems to sag when fully extended last week during a torrential
rain the rug was wet in one spot but the ceiling was dry.
Any ideas?
This is a used fifth wheel but in excellent condition.

Welcome to the forum.

If you have a hard pin box, meaning it doesn't float like the newer rigs with the Morryde boxes, then yes it may help with movement.

Forget about the tank level sensors, as most rigs don't have working sensors soon after purchase.

You may need the awning worked on, but they will sag with a lot of water weight on them, and your wet carpet may be a leak at a window or a caulking failure on the outside of the slide.

On your tires, does your rig have 6 lug or 8 lug wheels? If six lug, they are 6,000 axles, and you can go with good LT truck tires instead of ST trailer tires. If 8 lug, it is becoming risky using the ST tires, as there quite a few that have had tire failures causing much damage. You will have many threads on this forum to read up on tire issues.

As far as tank sensors, They are troublesome. In my last rig it sat for a great time with stuff in both tanks and of course the sensors were like yours. I tried many cleaners advertised as great for cleaning sensors and none of them worked. Then I tried the GEO method on the internet "get everything out" It is an older method using Calgon and laundry soap, soaking for as long as a few days. In my coach it worked on a second iteration getting all sensors clean. Google GEO method and you will find many variations and quantity recommendations. You can also use Boraxo Laundry additive and soap if you cannot find Calgon which is usually available in Walmarts.

Don't use the sensors. We had a tripod stabilizer, finally decided it was not worth carrying. Some folks swear by it. Tires, yours is a 33 footer, probably lighter, you could go with G614 tires if you want the optimum or probably any good quality LT tire. Awnings can get permanent sags. You did not specify location of the wet rug which can drive possible leak opportunities. Could be the frig, window, slide seal, slide seam.

My last rig, I didn't have the auto level system, I had tried Tri Pods in the past, and they work, but I got sick of lugging it around. I bought and installed a set of JT Strong Arms...WOW...not only did they stop almost all movement, but they were far superior to the tri pod, and you don't have to lug it around.
As for the sensors, I always do a good flush every time I empty my tanks, and they work fine, but I have done that since day one. Yours being a used unit, if the other owners were not as anal, stuff might have built up on them. They are not the greatest design. anyways.
Strongly recommend the JT Strong Arms, I took them off the unit I traded in, sold them to a friend and he loves them too.

I used a tripod the first year. Helped a little, but could still feel shaking when someone was walking and the trailer would really shake when washer/dryer was in spin mode. Installed JT Strongarm stabilizers and they are much better. Very little movement when walking and most of washer/dryer shake has been eliminated. But some people seem very happy with the tripods.

Welcome to the forum. I'd go with JT Strong-arms, a good LT tire (if your rig has the original wheels you have to go that way), check for leaks at your roof and windows and if you have the awning out during a good rain one side should be locked lower than the other so the water can drain instead of pool.

To the leak, as bob said, check the seal near the side bottom...that metal trim piece. If it isn't pristine, then apply new silicone along the top of it after removing old. To see if it is a window that is letting in water, apply silicone on both sides and top. Sensors not likely to work, just dump often. John

As far as stabilizers go, some people love them and some hate them. I have used them on my last Fifth wheel (SOB) and was not pleased. I upgraded to the JT Strongarm stabilizers and they really helped reduce movement.

The tires will really depend on the rims you have installed. If the rims are rated for 110 psi and you just want peace of mind, you can go with the Saulin or Goodyear G614. If the wheels are rated for 85 psi a good LT tire should work.
