2011 Mountaineer 326
Just picked up our new unit last week. It has an electric awning. The door hits the awning when it is out. Are we doing something wrong or does anyone know if it can be adjusted? The hot water tank will not heat up with the electric (heats with propane). ??? Suppose will need to take it back to the dealer? Would appreciate any comments.

Keith,
You may have checked already but, is the rocker switch at the water heater flipped on. Usually it is at the lower left of the heater behind the outside cover panel. Also check the breaker for the heater in the main panel. The only other thing I could think of right off is an element burned out or bad wiring or bad breaker.
Our door in the Monty does not hit the awning when it is out. Comes close though. If there is a sag in the awning it might hit. This can be adjusted. I would let the dealer do it.

Thanks for the info. I will check the breaker. I didn't think of that. As for the awning figure a trip back to the dealer is needed. Keith

Keith,
If we extend our awning until the motor stops running the door will hit it when it opens and closes. What I do is run the awning back in just a bit until the flap/fringe on the end of the roller hangs straight down. Then there is no problem with the door hitting. You might want to give that a try

I bet you Jolu is dead on. Your water heater not only has an inside switch at the control center, but another one outside on the outer part of the heater. You have to drop the service panel. Most come with a cotter pin locking it in the off position. Pull out the pin and turn it on along with having the inner switch on. I had a SOB before and it only had an inner switch, so I almost made the same assumption that there was a problem. I just happened to notice the outer switch when I was investigating.

Jack is right about the awning, just roll it back in a bit.
That was the solution that the factory service center came up with. I think that all of the models that do not have the inside step, have this issue because the door is higher up on the side of the trailer/

Hi Keith, I have a 2010 Mountaineer 326. I had the very same problem with my awning hitting the door. I installed an awning wheel on my entrance door and it solved the problem. I used a rivet gun instead of the screws that came with the roller. The screws didn't want to stay tight. Hope this helps.

I have a 2010 Mountaineer 335 RET. I have the same issue with the awning. I like Bubbabc's answer about the wheel. I will look into that.

Thanks for everyone's input. Awning tip worked well. Hot water circuit breaker was off. Turned on and and have hot water. Not sure why I didn't think to check that. Keith
