2010 Black Water "Boom"
Has anyone had the chance to use the black water boom that was installed in the 2010s. If so, how and did you like it?

I have mine on the 2009 and i like it , i keep 2 spares in my storage but most of the time i never have to use them, only a 10ft hose will fit in the boom but it works for me.
PS... Glad to have you in the forum........

Donald,
I have a 2010 3400RL with the attached boom and I only use it to store a 10ft sewer hose. Reason is that I like to put a clear fitting on the discharge of tanks so I can monitor the discharge of the black tank. I observe the flow until it ebbs, then turn on the black tank flush, invariably more debris, paper, etc will come out. I then let it run until it is clear, shut the flush off, then dump my two gray tanks. I couldn't actually see the flow without the clear fitting so, again, the boom is just storage.
Regards,
Jerry and Sandy

Some of us have modified what comes stock on the rigs so they hold more hose. The stock configuration only holds a 10' piece of hose, which isn't enough for practical use. Here is a link to what some of us have done: Sewer Boom Mod. Scroll down to the post by "KT Maniac" to read a description of the mod. By doing this, you can stow a 15' RhinoFlex hose or in our case, a 20' heavy duty sewer hose with fittings. Some folks don't like the sewer boom because you can't use a clear plastic elbow with the system.
Here is a photo of my mod which is an adaptation of what KT Maniac did.

I STORE A 10' HOSE IN THE TUBE, BUT CONNECT THE HOSE DIRECTLY TO THE OUTLET. I BOUGHT A CAP TO FIT ON THE END OF THE HOSE SO NO LEAKS. WHEN I HOOK UP TO THE SEWER CAP I USE A CLEAR CONNECTOR FOR THE SAME REASONS POSTED EARLIER. I HAVE FOUND THAT WITH THIS SYSTEM, I DO NOT HAVE TO HOLD A BUCKET UNDER THE OUTLET IN ORDER TO CATCH LEFT OVER MESS. I CAN HOLD UP THE HOSE TO FIT ALL THE CONNECTIONS.

When I got my 2010 3400RL I didn't think I would like the boom system much but now that I've used it a bunch I like it a lot. I have a 10' hose directly attached to the outlet and when I hook up to dump I have a straight clear fitting that I attach between the hose and the fitting going into the ground so I can see when the tank is flushed out enough.
