Bug Screens on Exterior Fridge Vents

Service person recommended adding bug screen on exterior fridge vents. First trip, fridge did not work, not due to bug screens. Independent service person indicated Dometic might not warranty unit if Bug Screens were installed. Where as the Service person said mud dabbers could cause failure by causing excessive heat ... any thoughts?

I put the screens on ours with a Norcold when it was new 6 years ago and our reefer has worked flawlessly and has never been turned off.

Our Rv tech said if you use your fridge 24/7 you do not need bug screens as it is to warm for the daubers to nest inside. But if you only use your fridge part time he said to block the openings when not in use, he dosent recommend the use of screens because it might over heat the fridge especially if the ambient temp is over 85 degrees.

I have them on my Norcold now, and had them on my Dometic on my old trailer... never had a problem.

I have put them on my Water Heater, Furnace and Refrigerator vents. I put them on all 3 of our Montana's and have never had a problem in over 13 years. Would not be without them and highly recommend them to keep out the Mud daubers, Wasps and Hornets!
