Monte's 1st Big Adventure

We headed out yesterday from Southern California for a two month journey to the South and Midwest.

As we did when we traveled once around the U.S. in 2010 we've decided to keep a blog.

For those so inclined, you're welcome to follow our adventures/misadventures at:

After we get through a family reunion in Alabama we have Tennessee in our sights. It's been too long since we were last there.

Where is your destination in Alabama? I seem to remember you have family here in AL. Hope you have safe travel on your way to TN.

My wife is from Montgomery, and that's where the family reunion will be.

The Corps of Engineer has a great campground near Montgomery.

When you get to Tennessee we recommend Fall Creek Falls State Park, they have a remodeled (new) RV area that is big-rig friendly, if there on a holiday weekend will need to call ahead. Defeated Creek COE campground is also a great place if you like to fish as you can fish from the bank in park and can drive over to the dam and fish below from the rocks.

Rainer, if you head across I20, there is a nice CG by Kilgore, Shallow Creek. We'll follow your travels as we'll be heading home to Colorado from Tampa and plan on stopping through Kilgore on the way home. We'll be heading back through Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas. Safe travels.
