replacing AC

When should you replace your air-condition, can you replace an air-condition with one that has a heat pump, when the one your replacing doesn't have a heat pump thank you
our AC is original to our 2016 3711FL

You can certainly replace your AC with a Heat Pump/AC unit. You may or may not need to replace your thermostat, however. As far as when should you replace it, my answer would be when it is broken and the repair costs more than it's worth. Replacement becomes the better option.

Are you asking this because of the age of the unit, or are you losing performance? Have you done or had maintenance done on the unit(s)?

As mentioned, you absolutely can replace an AC with a heat pump model. The thermostat would have to be changed. It looks like the heat pump models run about $300-400 more than straight AC, the installation cost should very little if any additional.

The heat pump models are good down to about 40 degrees outdoor temps. If you are planning on camping much in such conditions, it would be a good investment.
