Rv'ing on the east side
We have never been east of the Big River. Is it true that it is much harder to RV there due to smaller parks, higher cost. and fewer easy to get to fuel stops? We are planning a trip to Washington DC and are curious about the general conditions.

Jim, there are many nice RV parks E. Of Mississippi, just do some research. I use Corps and other Federal parks if possible. Older campgrounds do have small sites.

Not true at all. In 2012 we took an 8,500 mile trip arround the US. We found the fuel to be no problem off course like everwere watch the portico height.Lots of RV parks and for the most part priced right. Use the GS park guide I also love the Allstay App. Call ahead for a spot. You will have a great time.

I agree with the above. Someone lied to you. Yes, there are old parks that are tight, but there are some of those out west also. Gas is the same there or out here. Truck stops are plentiful, but if you're near a convenience store or gas station you just have to look how the islands are arranged before you pull in. No different than the gas stations out here.

Stay West! Don't come East and that will leave more beautiful sites for us. Just kidding of course. Welcome and come on over and you will not have any problems and will have a great time.

Be sure to visit The Great Smokey Mountain National Park, The Outer Banks, and The Blue Ridge Parkway, all in NC. While in NC, let us know so we can make you welcome. Lots of good things to see and many beautiful places to camp. Post your plans here and many will have good advice for you. We have camped near DC and found several nice places. Come on over and enjoy this part of this great nation.

We did a 17000 mile trip a few years ago covering 36 states and 4 provinces( Covered more but did not camp ) and at no time was fuel an issue and camp grounds were never a problem. We did this with only one reservation. As with any where you hit some great ones, good ones and those not so good, but you don't have to stay at those ones.
