Going on a "scream fest"

Heading over to Animal Kingdom Fri an Sat to do a little screaming on the new Expedition Everest and other assorted "Thrill Rides".

My friends and I are making this all about the Rides! My father is coming along but he's just going to wander around while we Ride and Scream.

The other day a young woman said when she was at the top of EE she could see "MGM and Epcot and Jesus and Elvis".

I'll post when I return and let you know how well I did stepping way out of my comfort zone!

BJ, Be ready for an exciting ride!! I normally do not do roller coasters, but Tom managed to get me on Everest in January during the sneak preview for pass holders. Not a "jerky" ride, but sure is fast. Glad I did it, but think I'll pass on seconds...LOL If you get a chance give us a shout. We are at the Encore Magic Lake, lot 829, just 6 miles from Animal Kingdom. Would love to finally meet you!!! Email me and I will send you our cell number.

Joyce,

You could say I'm stepping out of my comfort zone on this one, but I believe one needs to do that every so often.

Is Magic Lake the Encore Park on West 192 across from Publix?

Joyce, I would also be interested in that particular Encore park and your impressions.
Thanks,
Dave

BJ, Yes this is the Encore Park on 192 (first light after getting off Hwy 27) It is actually listed in Trailer Life under Clermont, even though we are closer to Kissimmee and Bay Lake. There is also an Encore Tropical Palms further east on 192, but rates are higher and no break for long term stays. Dave, We have been here since early Nov. and will leave in early April. We like the fact it is out of the main traffic pattern. There is a WalMart just a couple miles away on Hwy 27 north and a Winn Dixie just past the WalMart. No need to fight the theme park traffic for everyday living. We have found a back way to get to Disney to also eliminate most of the tourist traffic. The lots are larger than most other parks in the area. Guess we would give it a good overall rating as we have made reservations to return next year. Many of the snowbirds in this park have picked up seasonal jobs at Disney. Disney is always advertising for jobs and seems to be very flexible with scheduling. As you probably know there is lots to do in this area and some great restaurants. The only negative I can give is due to the fact that this is a big tourist area you will find prices a little higher than the west coast of FL.

Thanks, Joyce! I'm trying to locate this park. Is it Lake Magic RV Park? I am looking at it online at Trailer Life under Clermont. It shows an Encore park as "Lake Magic".

Also, Joyce, is there a membership or something, with Encore parks? I've never looked into them.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
The Encore park is Lake Magic park. It is in the area called 4 corners at the intersection of 192 and 27. You will turn to enter at a stoplight with an Internet cafe on the corner. It is across from Publix.

Brian,
What happened to you and Cindy??? Thought maybe you would pop in again while Cindy was here. Are you in the park now or back in MN? Noticed your rig was still here when we did laundry this week.

Dave, I believe it is listed as Encore Orlando or Encore Lake Magic. Last year another company ELS purchased most of the Encore parks and there has been lots of confusion about the names. After talking to an ELS rep at a reception last night I found the official name is Encore Lake Magic. Encore does not have a membership requirement. This is the second Encore resort we have stayed in (last winter in Crystal River). We like these parks as they are upscale and seem to cater to the RV owners rather than the permanent residents. They do have some park models but they are concentrated in one section of the park. They have recently established a "Royalty Club". No charge to join, but was developed for those who have spent several months in their parks. Check out: http://www.rvonthego.com/default.asp Let me know if we can be of any further help.

Fla Native, the suspense is killing me How was the Rides and did you have fun???? I rode on a roller coster once in my life time and thought I would have a heart attack. Needless to say that was the last time I ventured to try anything like that. Please let us know how you liked it.

Joyce, Cheryl just went on line and pulled up a "premium pull-through site". From Oct 19 to Nov 19 the monthly rate was $1,066 (with Good Sam discount). Is this what you have? Or is there a cheaper way at Lake Magic?

Dave,
I sent you an email response.I'm not sure what the rates will be for winter 2006-2007, but I do have a sheet showing the 2005/2006 season. Premium sites for 10/16/05 - 11/15/05 were $535/mth plus electric. 11/16 - 12/15/05 $565/mth plus electric, 12/16-1/15/06 $620, etc. The later in the season you arrive the more expensive. According to the manager here in the office the winter rates for next season are not yet published. Our deposit for next season was based on this years rates. I cannot believe rates would increase by $400/month. You may want to call the office here direct. Phone # is: 863-420-1300. Believe me if rates increase that much we would not be staying here next season.
