"Tire Shopping"
I priced the G614’s and I was quoted about $325.00/tire at 2 different places. That is a little over budget for me. So I’m looking at Firestone TransForce HT LT235/85R16/10 Load Range E; I was wondering if anyone on here has been using these tires and if they’re happy with them?
Thanks!

Bill,
My 614's came from Sam's at South Point for $237 each if I remember correctly (they have to order them). There have been many posts on tires, use the search feature. Transforce and Bridgestone Duravis come to my memory from previous recommendations. Maxxis have decent ST tires as well.

I agree, the 300+ price is over the top. Mine were closer to $225.

We are on our second set of LT235/R16E Transforce HT tires- We have not had a failure of any kind- The first set of tires were replaced after 5 years of service- Still had plenty of rubber left- We are fulltimers and tow about 15k annually- The current set are 2 years old and look like new- I rotate and balance annually- I maintain 80# of air- I also use this brand on our tv- Hope this helps and hope you will be satisfied with whatever you do- Don

You might want to go to Tirerack's site and compare the Transforce with the General HTS. The General is a heavier tire and is rated at 3086 pounds. It's also $10 less expensive per tire. Consumers appear to rate the General much higher overall than the Transforce.

I dunno where I dreamt up 3086 lbs. ... it's 3042 just like the Transforce. The weight of the General is 47 lbs. as compared with 40 for the Firestone.

Several really good tires in that size...Transforce, Bridgestone Duravis, BFG Commercials. ALL way better than what you had on there! Amazing you got that much time and miles on them. The G614s are top notch but pretty pricey. More load capacity though as I recall.
The BFGs are $144 on Tirerack.com, nice tire for the money. Very happy with mine, but I don't have a lot of miles on them yet.

Just put BFG's on mine. Had the Transforce and really liked them, no problems. Just decided to go BFG since I had been running them on my other vehicles (and the price).

I am really liking my Michelin XPS RIBS. Around $300 a piece but piece of mind.
