"My Self" adjusting brakes

I purchased a set of the Dexter Self adjusting at the fall rally but have not had time to get them installed. My OEM brakes are in need of adjusting. So yesterday I adjusted them "Myself" which made them "Myself" adjusting brakes. Glad I did too. The brakes had been a bit spotty for the last two runs and today we are leaving Chattanooga for Savannah. After adjusting the two on the passenger side I started on the drivers side and found that one of the main supply wires had been snapped off. I found two ends and it appeared that a piece of road junk had snapped it. I would guess that this was why my brakes were not working properly(or at all). I stripped the ends andused a butt splice and some self sealing heat shrink tubing and now they work. I guess it is a good idea to crawl under the rig periodically just to look around.... Dave

Plus, it's easier to slide under things in mud than on scratchy dry ground.

I would guess being an 'exnavydiver' means you have do everything under water!

Dave doesn't want to do anything unless water is involved. He just feels more comfortable.

Well,I had my Monty in for NYS Inspection Friday and found out I had a blown grease seal on the right front. This was it's first time in, so it must have been bad right from the factory. The thought is that it was never seated correctly as it just about fell out. Dexter it standing up and replacing the complete assy under warranty. One thing I did find out, I have self-adjusters and didn't have any paper work that told me that.
One another brake note: You can't tell self-adjusting by two adj holes as the service center had a complete non self-adj kit and it had two adj holes. Learn something new everyday

But once your under it rig your out of the rain. I look under the rig before and during trips. Looking at tires , wires, suspension and anything else that can go wrong. Just helps me relax a little more.

Glad you found the problem before it caused problems on the road stopping your rig in an emergency.
