They are good for at least 3000000 miles. They don't have much power and are noise and are very dependable. I had a 2000 7.3, never let me down but I was never happy with the power. But that is just me.

You mean an F-350? 3500 is typical nomenclature for Chevy, GMC and Dodge to denote their one tons or duallies.

If it is a diesel it would have the very successful 7.3 diesel. Was an F-350 dually even offered with a gas engine (I'd walk away from this one is so equipped)? You'll have to check the ratings numbers to ensure it satisfies what's needed for your rig. You can start by checking the door pillar and you'll probably need 7,000 lbs at the rear end just to start hoping you meet the numbers you need. My 2006 F-250 (at 6,100 lbs at the rear end) was converted to an F-350 (7,000 lb rear end) and NOW satisfies my 2006 3500).

I've got the same truck if it's a diesel ... like said they are bulletproof dependable engines good for @ 300,000 miles. Oil changes at a recommended 3000 mile interval and your DC4 coolant additive are important duties of a good owner. I average 10 - 11 mpg pulling and about 18 empty. I've got a Thoroughbred 6 position tuner in mine and have never been disappointed with the 7.3s power always pulling around 14,000# with my fiver and boat in tow. One can still pretty much do his own wrenching on a 7.3 ... not so much with the brand new ones. Sure the new ones have more power, but that comes along with a bigger insurance bill and way higher property taxes. I guess it all depends on if you have the "gee look what's sitting in my driveway" mentality and the funds to do so.

Sounds promising with those tranny and engine upgrades in that dually. I hope the upgrades have been there for a while and the kinks have been worked out. Can you describe the upgrades?

Unlike gas engine/trans combinations that are pretty close to peak performance, those earlier diesel trucks left a lot of potential performance in their powerplants. Since trucks make so much profit there was no incentive for the big Three to tweak them as high as they could. By nature, they were just better than gassers without much work or cost of engineering. The performance upgrade companies started to eat their lunch so like dieselguy mentions, the newer stuff is harder to upgrade since they are now designing in more performance out of the factory. But that was one of the truck years to install upgrades. My BIL had a 2002 he "Banks"ed out. It was a great truck until he finally upgraded to another new Ford in 2010. Like many before him, he went in for some service and maintenance and found a great deal on the new truck.

I have this truck and have put many upgrades on the truck but it looks and drives like a new truck. If you put a tuner on it, add exhaust brake and torque lock for the exhaust brake you will be amazed at how it hauls. I am hauling 17,000 lb. trailer and been thru the Rockies, The Big Horn Mtns. and just about any other type of situation and am as pleased as could be. I did have one failure so far with this truck and that was the tranny. I opted for the Jasper with 100,000 mile warranty so it could be replaced anywhere USA. Does the 6.7 2014's have more power? The answer is yes they do, and they also have money power as in $65,000 plus for the truck. Wish I had it but I don't and don't want the payments so this works perfectly for me. I don't believe you will be sorry with the purchase if it's in good running order.

I forgot to add that mine now has 152,000 miles on it.

I am pulling with a 2002 F250. 7.3 with 185, 000 miles and love it. I have added a Edge power system, large exhaust system, large air intake system, extra trans oil cooler, B&D exhaust brake, B&D trans lock, Firestone air bags, extra gauges, GPS and use Delo oil. Talked with many diesel shops and they all say to keep the 7.3.

Truck that old and with that milage is a product of how it was maintained over the years. Careful inspection by a qualified mechanic is a must, in my opinion.
