Filling Fresh Water Tank

When filling my fresh water tank my water pump keeps coming on/off. Is that normal or should I turn off the water pump when filling the fresh water tank? Any help appreciated.

Are you filling it at the convenience center or at the gravity fill.

If you turn your convenience center valve to Power Fill, it will drop the internal pressure that activates you on-board pump. You have to turn off the pump while filling to prevent cycling.

This is normal.

We keep the pump off except when we are not using city water and need water pressure. We use the convenience center fill and there is no need to turn off the pump. We do uncap the gravity fill just in case we run it over. I may be missing something here, but never thought of it any other way.

Well, I tell ya. I've been around this forum for more than 9 years. And we're on our third Montana in 11 years. And I didn't know this about the water pump. Learn something new every day!

By the way, as far as I know this is the first time that question has been asked on this forum. At least that I've seen. Good question. Thanks.
