macerators?

I need to order a macerator for staying at son's house. I can reach a clean out w/i 75 ft, slight downgrade. C/W has the flo-jet for 299.00 Any other suggestions, ideas, etc?

We use the Sewer Solution,if you have a slight downgrade it should work fine, you could use some pvc to go most of the way

I just went to Lowe's and bought a cheep 100 foot 1 inch hose.It screws on the pump.Be sure to run the gray water through it last. The hose has lasted me 9 years and it is still in good shape.

Charlie, it's much less expensive than flo-jet, but I need to connect to 75 ft of garden hose to go down steps and across patio/yard and roll back up so no-one trips over, etc. I watched a video of sewer solution and I don't think it would work for this particular situation. But I've been in some C/Gs with up hill sewer drains where this would be great. Can I connect a hose instead of PVC? Thanks, Ray

I agree with Charlie I would use a Sewer Solutions. Phone them and they will tell you if it would work for your application.

Charlie, I wasn't sure if he was referring to putting the hose on the flo-jet or on the sewer solution. Sewer solutions website specified 1" PVC, so I was confused. Thanks for clarifying.

Ray, we've used a macerator for nine years off and on as necessary. We've pumped the septic waste over 200 feet up some slight inclines and into a house toilet. It has worked fine for us. Some swear by The Solution but the macerator makes quick and easy dumping.

I also use the Macerator like Orv does, I have a incline on my property at least 5 feet above the street and a 75 foot run to the clean out. It has saved the day quite a few times for me, the only thing I have against them "RV Sani-Con" is they sold out to Thetford I have not had to have any parts replaced yet, so I dont know how Thetford will react to me asking for parts for the original Macerator if I ever need them. it is costly compaired to the others on the market, but I have never had a problem with it. the Macerator works just like there add says.

Thanks for all the great info. It's between the S/S and F/J. I'll wait till sons closing and take F/W there, and do a more thorough search in case of a closer clean out. I found out that Tweety's sells both units much less expensive than CW.

I put a marine macerator pump on my 1975 GMC in 1981.It worked every time. I sold the GMC in 2006 and the original macerator was working fine. It took a lot of mechanical work to set up the tank valve with an air cylinder and solenoids to open the drain electrically, but I was happy to have an easier sewer setup, especially since we made a lot of one night stops in the GMC.

I bought the Thetford portable macerator for our Monty in 2006 and mounted it permanently on the existing sewer drain piping. It's worked very well since i installed it. On one of our trips the campground sewer drain was about 50 feet from our trailer so i bought a one inch diameter hose to extend the drain length. It ran a bit slower, but still worked fine.
