Hang your truck keys on your antenna crank.

Our rule is to crank it down before going to bed the night before we are going to leave a location. The two times I left it up before going to this procedure, other RVers alerted me. Whew! Tuition in the school of RVing can get expensive at times.

yea thats a good idea jim i already have a key holder right as i walk in the door. but maybe a little sign that says antenna and hang it from the crank , that would be a good reminder, yes stiles rving has its moments. but still wouldn't trade a bad rv day for a good day elsewhere.

You could also purchase a bright orange tag that clips on the antenna reminding you that it’s up. We have one of those and I believe it can be purchased at most any RV center.

I use a "Remove before flight" red streamer.
Came very close to doing the deed once, wife caught it prior to departure. I got a "time out".

We have "antenna down?" on our packing up checklist. We (at least DW) faithfully use the checklist every time we hook up to leave.

I put a clothes pin on the antenna crank when the antenna is down. When up the clothes pin is on the key hooks.
I use one also for the dump valve for the Washer.

Followed one ugly looking bent-up antenna hanging over the side of a TT yesterday while traveling through our local Amish Country. Lucky no horses were struck! But something sure twisted it up! Can happen to anyone.

Check list, check list, check list, and still forget, as I did recently. Good neighbor i park started waving arms and pointing. It's easier for me as I just stop the SOB and crank it down. I put my keys on the crank handle every time I stop, up or not, as a reminder. Somehow I got distracted and didn't take it down. Thanks neighbor, whoever you are.
Check list, check list, check list. And then check it again.

Every time before we take off (including breaks) I walk around the truck/trailer. But I don't just do a visual. I also pull on each door to make sure they are securely closed as well as try to stick my fingers between the slides and the trailer to make sure the slides are snug against the trailer. When I get to the rear of the trailer I step back far enough to check the TV antenna and the satellite antenna, I also look for damage to A/C covers etc.
We don't watch much TV so the antenna is always on our mind when we do raise it. But last year I left the DataStorm Dish/Antenna up. Luckily I caught it with the walk around but then had to dig out the power cord and reconnect to stow the DataStorm. I never would have made it out of the campground due to all the trees. So even in the rain I will still do a walk around.
Passed 2 RVs in southern Utah back in June with the TV antennas still up. The first one already lost the BatWing. It was just a pole and the wire. The 2nd one still had the BatWing but it looked pretty twisted and damaged.
