Rocking Chairs

Anyone come out with a better idea securing the rear rocker chairs other than sitting on the floor and restrapping every time? What a pain in the back.

We dumped ours and have regular recliners in there, but we didn't secure the old ones and we don't secure the new ones. They're heavy enough that if they fly around the chairs are going to be the least of the problems.

We still strap ours down, but Jim moved the floor hooks so it is much easier. At sometime in the near future we too plan on replacing them. Not yet sure what it will be.

Never strapped the originals or the new lazy boys. D/Ws is a rocker. I put a block of wood under rear corner to keep it from rocking against drapes.they never moved.

We just turn ours back to back and took the straps that your suppose to use to strap them to the floor and connected them together and us them and strap around the backs of the chairs.

Dave, thats a great idea, Im going to start doing that, so much easier. Im going to do the same thing around the dinnete chairs.

Not to hijack this thread and sorry for the rant but IM still reeling over a unsecured rocker incident. In June we took delivery of our 326 Mountaineer and the salesman conducted a walk through that took over 1 hour. He explained the hydroulic slides and the sequence of how the slides moved in and out, he said the Rockers needed to be placed sideways so both rear slides could close and open, he never told us or showed to us the straps and hooks that are for the purpose of securing the rockers in place. We took the trailer home and my wife proceeded to open the slides and unknowing one of the rockers shifted in transist and it caught the edge if the slide and pulled the 1 by 6 facia out from the frame of the slide. Can't describe how upset we were to see the damage and discovered the straps neatly folded up behind one of the rockers. I made the repair which took two hours. To my astonishment when I informed the salesman of the incident and all he said was "sorry and they never secure the Rockers when they transport to dealer shows and never had an issue". Lesson learned the hard way and we will always secure those rockers back to back with a pillow in between and watch them very closely when opening and closing.

We just put them back to back and have never had a problem. This is our second Montana and we have done this with both.

Years ago we got into the habit of dumping the chairs that Keystone provides and replacing with quality furniture. We have never secured the recliners and have never had a problem.

Thanks for the advice we are going to try the back to back and strap them in but always check the location of the chair handle when opening and closing the slide out or you will knock off your trim.

Please tell us what you replaced them with - Lazy Boys ?

The originals are just to heavy to move every set up and take down.

We do the back to back with strap and this works most of the time, but have also had this happen "shifted in transist and it caught the edge (of) the slide and pulled the 1 by 6 facia out from the frame of the slide" as posted by F3fifty. We now use the remote and stand inside the rig and watch the slide move out as we have caught this same issue several times just in time. I have considered putting an expanding rode hooked across fron wall to wall in front of the chairs to stop any forward movement. I think the Rear Intertainment floorplans do not have this issue, but oh well we got what we got.

lots of things here

we found the front strap mount brackets broke the bottom frame mount of the chairs so we removed them and put chairs back to back strapped together slid against the back wall.

recliner springs breaking , where can we get replacement parts ?

I also stand inside and watch and listen as I open or close the slides. I have stopped several things from being broken by doing this. Our 2880RL has an island and the under sink cabinet door was open and would have been crushed if I hadn't stopped the slide. Also a couple of times, we haven't had the chairs set just right and could have caused damage.

Well half way thru our trip we ditched the staps even around the backs and just but them back to back. We traveled some extremely rough roads and the recliners stayed put. But we don't have to worry bout ours getting in the way of the slides.

We strap our recliners back to back with a thick blanket between the backs to prevent them from rubbing on eacher. Our dining chairs are not strapped down and have never moved a bit. We have the 3580RL with the center island so that would keep the dining chairs pretty confined anyways.
