Kentucky Campgrounds
If you are looking for a quiet weekend getaway, I would recommend Columbus-Belmont state park. They have a large RV campground with water and electricity (dump station...). The campground sits up on a bluff overlooking the mississippi river, and barges can be seen crawling their way up and down the river several times a day. Hand dug battlements from the civil war can be found all over the park. There is even a very well rendered museum. It is on the very western side of the state and the road into the campground is a well maintained two lane. My last trip, I picked up some sweet corn from an Ahmish vegitable stand that cost pocket change and cooked up great on the BBQ.
If you are traveling the I-75 corridor, just 5 miles off exit 95 is old Fort Boonesborough. There is a very large and well maintained RV campground on the Kentucky River, within walking distance of the restored fort Daniel Boone constructed in the 1700s. Several reinactors bring the fort to life every day. Lots of trees and walking trails.
Both of these parks are run by the state and run about $20 a day. I have spent many nights at both and highly recommend them.
