Been bombed
I'm almost a believer.
I've always thought the "problem" with Marathons was caused by underinflation or driving too fast. This happened to me yesterday at 60mpg after two hours of highway driving. We had grandkids in the back seat watching DVDs, and I thought the loud screeching noise was from a movie. A big truck honked at us, and I looked in the right rearview mirror and saw the fender damage.
(sorry for the edit but forgot this)... I haven't looked closely yet, but I did notice tire debris inside the cabin at both ends of the LR slideout. I'm wary of extending the slide in case it gets stuck "out." Anyone else have a similar debris-inside-the-cabin experience?

Seem to remember damage to slide bottom, but don't recall if it was on the forum or a complaint to trailer life once upon a time. I think most of us feel the issue starts with the use of such a light tire on the heavier montes combined with the delivery folks doing in excess of 65...that sets us up for issues like this. And you are lighter than a lot given your pic showing six bolt axles. Don't believe getting slide stuck out will be an issue and you need it out to help waterproof those debris entry points...which will be inward facing jaggies. Having had two blows without much damage, but exposed to freeway hazrds when changing tires...this is why we preach to folks about getting the tires off asap. John

I don't know why Montana keeps putting these tires on these heavy campers. Oh yeah I do they are cheap.
If you have them on your camper get en off. You can do everything right and still wind up just like this.

Obviously, not a good day for you. Only one blowout for us over the years, lucky no damage except loss of tire.

Yes there have been reports here over the years of damage to the floor of the slideout.

That looks like a replacement rim and tire assembly. if i recall montanas have always had aluminum rims. or am i mistaking?.
