Bathroom door - really?

I have seen in recent years and predominantly in 2015 FWs that the engineers at Keystone really missed the mark on how the bathroom is entered from the narrow hall on many models including the 3610/1RL, 3735MK, and 3790/1RD. It is not possible to enter these bathrooms without first ensuring the bedroom door is open first. There is little clearance between the door opening and the bedroom door when the bedroom door is closed. Being an engineer myself, ergonomics is a critical factor in the design process for any environment where humans are involved. This design atrocity may be the result of inexperienced engineers. However, if you are paying premium prices for a unit that you plan to use full time, the expectation is that the ergonomic factor should be a high priority in the design. I am certain that Montana owners have encountered this problem. How can we get Keystone to acknowledge and create an action plan to correct?

The fall rally is when most of Keystone's errors are strongly communicated to them and they do listen. I just wish they made the engineers camp in what they design before it goes into production.

The bathroom set up you describe is exactly why I chose the 3910FB. I could care less about the half bath- wish I had an office option there , but I refuse to SQUEEZE thru to go to the bathroom.

Yep you really got to wonder about the set up you are describing. We have an early 3610 that has the bathroom door opening inward in front of the toilet but a little later in the production year they made a few changes to the floor plan(not for the better) and that was one of them, go figure!!!

When we first toured the new 3611 a month ago that was the first thing we picked up on. If one had company staying over and they needed to use the bath during the night they would have to open our bedroom door to get in the bathroom. Now that could lead to great conversation in the morn!!!

DW and I went through several 2015 Montanas today and without exception, I hit the top of my head on the top of the frame of every doorway going into a bathroom or bedroom. I'm only 6' 1" tall but this is a showstopper for me to purchase a new RV. I shudder to think of the pain & blood from peeling my scalp back the 1st time I forget to duck. No thanks... pass.

We have a 3735MK and that is the only thing I did not like at first ls the bathroom door But they could not put a sliding pocket door in because that is where the coat closet and control center is, but we love having actual nice doors as opposed to "Rvish" IMO Pocket doors on our 2012 but it just does not work in the skinny hallway so we just leave it open all the time until we use the bathroom and also we took off the side valance on the window in the hallway and that makes for a wider hallway and as far as hitting my head going in the bathroom and bedroom I am 6-2 and I have Never hit my head in 7 months of Fulltiming in it..CORattler are you wearing platform shoes or something? But for US we love the 3735MK Floor plan with the HUGE living room and kitchen and the biggest Pantry I have ever seen not to mention the COOL back door was too much to resist so the bathroom door was not a deal Breaker and now we are use to it and it does not bother us....By the way Montana could have room for a pocket door if the went with a 100in frame that extra 4in would make it possible and have a wider hallway

I was wearing sneakers. The units were 3100 & 3610. No platform shoes.

I see what you are saying if I stand straight up like Frankenstien then the top of the door jam is about 1 inch below my head ,I guess living in RV's for 4 years I have just learned to duck a little I guess ,My 2012 3402RL was the same height door jam with the pocket doors

I understand bigskyjimmy. Me, I'm bound to forget to duck at some point and it would be all over but the bleeding and stitches. I don't have the problem in my current 2010 3150RL.

We have some friends that recent bought a motor home and attended a rally. The company has a new policy where the engineers have to spend a couple of days in the products they design. That should be interesting.

We have a Mountaineer 356TBF with the same setup for the bathroom door. If we have anyone staying with us we just leave the door open. I did tell the dealer I thought they put the door on backwards (which wouldn't work either) He had to think about that for a minute. lol
