Ellipsis Jet Pack
Our old Verizon Jet pack had it's battery swell and since it wouldn't stay in the case the jet pack quit working. Since it was old, the Verizon stores don't stock the battery anymore and so I opted for a new model rather than wait for a battery to be shipped. Big mistake!!! I got the new Ellipsis and within a couple of weeks it crapped out. Now a couple of weeks later the replacement for the new Ellipsis has crapped out in a different way so they are sending me a third unit and promising that if this one also craps out they will try to do something different. As some of you know, I have bad luck with products and if it is going to fail it will fail for me, but if you're thinking of getting the cute little Ellipsis Jet Pack and your old model is still working you might want to consider keeping it for a while.

We have had our MiFi Verizon for almost 4 years. For some reason we are not due for an upgrade until this fall. It works okay but the system just seems slow. We don't download anything. We only use it for checking emails, scanning the internet, and two I-phones. Our package has 10gb each month and that is barely enough. I hate to hear these new jet packs may not be very good, I was looking forward to an upgrade.....maybe not.

I have Verizon and just use my smartphone as a hotspot when I want to connect my computers to the internet. It is just as fast and easy to use. Don't have to pay additional monthly fee for the MIFI.

Since using our phones is what we've had to do each time while we wait for the next offering, two years from now when we can get out of it that's probably the way we'll go. The phones just flat work better and have more bars. That said, using them as a hot spot does take a lot of juice and so you may pick up your phone and need it only to find the battery low. Third Ellipsis is supposed to arrive today so we'll see how that one does.

Hi
When they went to 4G they went to a concentrator system that doesn’t work near as well as the 3G system. I got one of the old 3G units off of EBay and I am very happy with it.
If you still have your old one order a battery for it you will be a ahead of the game.

Phil, you're absolutely right, but they made me give them the old one when they gave me the new one (we have repair coverage). Not advising anyone to pay for repair coverage just that I'm very hard on phones so we do.

When my contract expired on my Jetpack 4620 I pulled the plug on it and started using my Galaxy S-5 and it works MUCH better.
